Hannah Jadagu shares new single “All My Time Is Wasted” - Headlines Brooklyn’s Sultan Room on October 29th

AND… Supporting Wild Nothing and Beach Fossils through November 1st.

Today, October 5th, Hannah Jadagu (pron. juh-dah-goo) is releasing “All My Time Is Wasted,” a new single out worldwide on all DSPs from Sub Pop. The song features lyrics and arrangements from Hannah, was composed and co-produced by the singer and Huck, and includes guest backing vocals from Frankie Cosmos.
Hannah says, “’All My Time Is Wasted’ is a song I began writing last year during my first semester in college. The hook came to me after feeling very inadequate, despite the new adjustments, hard work, and risks I had been taking. Recently I finished writing it (the song) this summer post my first year at school, new job, and new opportunities. It’s a feeling I always feel!”

“All My Time Is Wasted” follows the release of What Is Going On?, her acclaimed EP released earlier this year.
Hannah’s previously announced fall 2021 tour dates (Links here) supporting Wild Nothing and Beach Fossils, which are currently underway, run through November 1st at New York’s Brooklyn Steel.

Additionally, on October 29th, 2021, Hannah has announced a headline show at the Sultan Room in Brooklyn.

What people are saying about Hannah Jadagu:
“…Just glorious. Her voice, the production, these sweet reflective melodies. Just all works so well together.” [What Is Going On?]- NPR Music
“The New York via Texas transplant sings of trying to find her way in a myriad of inflection points in her life and in society. Whether it is racial and gender equality (“My Bones”), the crush of any given day (“Sundown”), or romantic tribulations (“What Is Going On?”), Jadagu wraps her concerns in shimmery layers of off-center pop frosting.” [What Is Going On?] - Under the Radar
“When immersed in the raw beauty of Hannah Jadagu’s SubPop debut EP, What is Going On?, many things spring to mind. How does she build such nuanced melodic tension with her lyrics? How does she write such introspectively brilliant lyrics?” - Ones to Watch
“Jadagu’s songs have an inherently chill quality that feel almost effortless.” [What Is Going On?]  - Dallas Observer
“The songs of her debut EP, What Is Going On?, were all written and recorded through her mobile phone, yet despite her limited resources, the songs sound lush, and perfectly formed, showing what can be done if you find a method that works for you.” - For the Rabbits

Shannon Lay’s alluring new record, Geist available Today, October 8th via Sub Pop

Shannon Lay’s alluring new record, Geist is out today worldwide via Sub Pop. Geist has received acclaimed support from places like Uncut, Stereogum, Under the Radar and Mojo. Pitchfork gave her single “Rare to Wake” its coveted “Best New Track,” saying “Shannon Lay delivers each moment in “Rare to Wake” with deep care and intention. Throughout the song’s five-minute runtime, the Los Angeles songwriter’s voice never appears unaccompanied: It is always layered in harmonies, followed by wordless echoes, or conversing with a sparse ensemble of upright bass, keys, electric guitar, and handclaps. Her lyrics are formed by existential concerns (“Have I always been who I am?”) and quiet affirmations (“I am longing to grow”). While her words slowly outline an imagistic narrative, the real story is in the sound itself—percussion teases a climax that never arrives, the background vocals sometimes overtake the lead, and her central acoustic guitar riff loops with the steady, meditative quality of ambient synths. Like a living painting, each new texture and color shifts the mood.”

Lay will be touring in support of Geist and has confirmed new shows in North America, UK, and Europe. Click here for a full list of shows.

What people are saying about Shannon Lay:

“It’s impossible to overstate just how beautiful the song is, Lay’s voice woven into transcendent harmonies as her patient but insistent acoustic guitar loops itself into a kind of instrumental mantra. Glistening keys and handclaps play around the edges, shading in new colors without ever disturbing the serenity of repetition. If this is what change sounds like, it’s easy to look forward to whatever’s next on the horizon for Lay.” [“Rare To Wake”] - Stereogum

“Drenched in brilliant Californian sunshine, beautifully layered harmonies and an all-around feeling of loveliness [..] Divine” - God Is In The TV

“Geist already feels like a special record” - For The Rabbits

“Lay’s voice is a thing of burnished beauty, quiet and warm with a certain gravity” [9/10] - Uncut

“Geist is a beautiful spin through the windmills of Lay’s mind, unreal in the best ways” - [4/ 5] - Mojo

“Geist is shaping up to be a real must listen” [Single of the Week] - Secret Meeting

“Judging from ‘Rare To Wake’ the best is yet to come as her voice and sound has blossomed” - The New Cue

“Sensational” - Beats Per Minute

Suki Waterhouse “Moves” New Single Debuts Today - Track to Appear on Forthcoming Album to be Released via Sub Pop in 2022

Suki Waterhouse has released a brand-new single, “Moves” which comes with a visually stunning video directed by Cameron McCool. The track is the first to be released off her forthcoming full-length album, due out in 2022 via Sub Pop. “Moves” is Executive Produced by Grammy-Nominated Producer & Songwriter Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee). “Moves” is accompanied by companion track “My Mind,” a song that shows off Suki’s beautiful, airy vocals.

“…songs that linger with you long after they’re over” - NME

“[Moves is] a hazed out, guitar-heavy daydream” – NYLON

Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as a singer, songwriter and  actress, but you’ll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music’s magnetic pull and always saw the medium as a way of expressing creativity and telling stories. Previous singles “Brutally”, “Good Looking” and “Valentine” drew comparisons to the Paisley Underground sound of Mazzy Star and to the 60s influenced girl group reimagining of bands like Stockholm’s The Concretes and Glasgow’s Camera Obscura.

Megan Jasper, CEO of Sub Pop said, “Suki’s songs are smart, radiant, and incredibly engaging, much like her personality. We knew the minute we heard them that they were important and needed to be out in the world. Sub Pop is over the moon to be working with her!”

“Moves” illuminates the nuances of her sound. With gentle guitar strumming throughout the verses and a rhythmic bass permeating the chorus, Waterhouse warns she might “put some goddamn moves on you” with beautiful, haunting vocals. “Moves” is a song that dreams about the impossibility of, one day, being struck by a person who changes the course of your life.

“Moves” is a song I first started writing one night on the couch, picking up the guitar and seeing what came out,” writes Suki. “It was a moment where I felt the urge to both sever a bond of connection with somebody and yet at the same time pursue and put my trust back in love.”

Previous Praise for Suki Waterhouse:

“..sounds like what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides, Now” would sound like…Here’s to more pleasant surprises like this from her book of talents.” - NYLON

“…perfectly captures the liminal moments of heartbreak, reminding us that it’s never exactly good or bad — in the words of Waterhouse, “It just is.” - Refinery29

Hear new Sub Pop Singles Club Vol. 6 contributions from Jeff Tweedy and TV Priest

You can now hear new Sub Pop Singles Club Vol. 6 contributions from Jeff Tweedy and TV Priest, out today worldwide on all DSPs from Sub Pop.

“C’mon America” is the A-side to Jeff Tweedy’s single, and is from an unreleased group of songs with mostly sci-fi lyrics. Meanwhile “UR-60 Unsent,” the B-side, is a pitiful tale of an unsent lovesick mixtape, taken from a separate batch of unreleased songs with mostly pitiful lyrics.
As the founding member and leader of the Grammy Award-winning American rock band Wilco, and before that the co-founder of the alt‐country band Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy is one of contemporary music’s most accomplished songwriters, musicians, and performers. He has released three solo albums, written original songs for eleven Wilco albums, and is the author of two New York Times’ Best Sellers, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back): A Memoir of Recording and Discording with Wilco, etc. and How To Write One Song. Jeff’s most recent solo album, Love Is The King, was released in 2020, and this past year has seen the launch of his Substack Newsletter, Starship Casual. Jeff lives in Chicago with his family.

TV Priest’s “All Thing” is the B-side from their contribution to the series, and follows the release of “Lifesize,” the single’s A-side, released last month.
TV Priest’s Charlie Drinkwater says “‘All Thing’ is a subversion of the Anglo Saxon word for parliament or meeting (Althing or Thing). It asks questions about the power of groupthink and ideas of nationhood that have become static, non-inclusive and singular.”
Having played festivals curated by the likes of IDLES and Sports Team, as well as Manchester Psych Fest this summer, TV Priest returns to the stages of the UK and France this October and November, with appearances at Sirens Festival in Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as the Pitchfork Festival in Paris. The band will then share the stage with A Place to Bury Strangers in North America in early 2022. See here for a full listing of dates, with more headline shows and news of their forthcoming record to be announced soon.
The Sub Pop Singles Club Vol. 6 series includes twelve subscription-only 7” singles by an exciting array of artists, including John Waters, Duma, LIDS, Washed Out, Hand Habits, BNH Deluxe, Porridge Radio, Sheltered Workshop Singers, and more. Only 1,000 subscriptions are available, and the series is nearly sold out. Hear music from the series via the Singles Club playlist, and subscribe here!

Shabazz Palaces is currently working on the follow-up to the internationally acclaimed The Don of Diamond Dreamswhich is available now worldwide from Sub PopThe New Yorker says of the album, “[Shabazz Palaces’] spontaneity and irreverence for rap conventions feel particularly urgent; these experiments are malleable and resistant to form at a time when declarative statements on the current era seem futile. Instead, the group continues bludgeoning musical complacency with songs as equivocal as inkblot tests.” Uncut continues, ”The Don of Diamond Dreams finds Butler’s effects-treated voice rippling through a prism of mutated funk and R&B that feels simultaneously sumptuous and deeply unconventional (8/10).”
Earlier this year, Shabazz Palaces’ self-released the single and official video for “20 Gear Science”, which Stereogum noted for its “spacy, synthy” sound. Even more recently, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his landmark album Black Up. The AV Club says of the album, “The record still shifts uncomfortably in and out of view, pulses of static coalescing into hooks that vaporize after one incantation.” Meanwhile,  Pitchfork offered this, “From great mystery exploded an album of impossible vision.”
