“Fantasia as a whole takes everything great about Slift and revs it harder… Expect their already-soaring career to rocket even further after this.” 9/10, Metal Hammer
“[Slift] tighten their sprawling jams, contracting the space rock crescendos of 2024’s Ilion into potent shorter songs. The concise approach here works in their favour.” The Wire
“It’s a testament to the force and fury of Slift’s signature synthesis of psych, prog, and post-hardcore that not even the flurry of Rick Wakeman-style synth arpeggios on Fantasia’s nine-minute opening title track can soften the song’s impact. The rest of the trio’s fourth album feels similarly explosive, vocalist and guitarist Jean Fossat leading the charge as the band largely shifts away from the more florid sci-fi prog of 2024’s mighty Ilion and deeper into a rarely traveled realm between the lands of Rush and Refused. That songs as complex and relentless as “Orbis Tertius” and “The Day Of Execution” were largely recorded in single takes elicits an additional measure of awe.” 8/10, UNCUT
“After the psychedelic Ilion, the Toulouse trio once again delivers a stunning album with a massive sound, as raging as it is cosmic: breathtaking.”
“Album of the Week (TTTT)”, Télérama
“Primal exorcisms destined to be even better live.” Classic Rock
“It has twists and turns that would make any prog-head squeal with delight, where this differs from other more indulgent twiddling is its welcome brevity of ideas, avenues and refrains rendering it all the more fresh and full of purpose, a mirror to its surreal epic songs of power, wresting from those with factional bad intent an optimism in our collective future, an expectancy that times pass and through suffering and strange heroic endeavours, we’ll get there.” 5/5, NARC
“The band’s devotion to the riff allows the music to mutate into new forms: The album’s eight songs feels spontaneous and free-form, never cycling back to repeat verses or choruses.” ★★★★ SLANT
“Whoo! I tell you what, I love this fucking feeling. A guttural scramble of a guitar riff? A guys bellowing over the top like he’s somehow trapped underneath the guitar riff and he needs you to rescue him? A chorus where all the dramatic stakes zoom upward? An extended trippy breakdown, followed by an even heavier riff? That’s the good shit. “The Day Of Execution,” the latest track from the French power trio Slift, is like the wind in your hair on a sunny day.” STEREOGUM
”[‘A Storm Of Wings’ is] every bit as mind-expanding, groove-based, and swirling as fans could hope for. The guitars are heavy and squealing, the bass is booming and pushed forward in the mix, and the vocals match the cut’s hypnotic intensity. It’s a dynamic, fantastic journey through the cosmos via fuzz tones and crash cymbals — what’s not to like?” “Songs of the Week,” Consequence
“The first single from the album is “A Storm With Wings,” a raging ripper that owes a lot to ’70s Detroit and ’90s Seattle and takes aim at corrupt politicians everywhere.” BROOKLYN VEGAN
“…They’re a group that have forged something that is theirs alone, sweeping from psych-drone territory into Tool-like mechanical riffage, hardcore vocals, and full-on space rock jams. ‘A Storm Of Wings’ is the first sample of the forthcoming album Fantasia (which is shaping up to be a lot less boring than the disappointing Disney film of the same name).” Guitar World
“After the psychedelic Ilion, the Toulouse trio once again delivers a stunning album with a massive sound, as raging as it is cosmic: breathtaking.” TTTT Télérama
