Today is April 16th, and The Bug Club is sharing “How to Be a Confidante,” a new single from the group’s forthcoming new long-player, Very Human Features.
On Very Human Features, The Bug Club continues their habit of presenting as a collective mind. Two-in-one. Rarely do you find a band with two creative forces that have such a singular, shared perspective, sense of humor, and knack for a pop melody. “How to Be a Confidante” does that-thing-The-Bug-Club-really-know-how-to-do where they speak as two voices from the same mind and pluck out common aspects of how we all live and make them sound ridiculous. The surreal is in the familiar, not in ignoring the familiar - The Bug Club knows this, and that understanding joins an unrelenting bassline in forming the backbone of this garage-infused belter.
The Bug Club will spend a good deal of time on the road in 2025 performing “How to Be a Confidante” along with other choice highlights from Very Human Features and their previous Sub Pop release, 2024’s On the Intricate Inner Workings of the System by Means of Popular Music, or the Contemplation of Pretty Faces, Tinned Bubbles and Strife. PLUS! Some of their older songs.
And today, the band is announcing new North American dates with Sub Pop labelmates Omni, which begin Friday, June 13th in Montreal, QC at Cabaret Foufounes and run through Friday, June 27th in Philadelphia, PA at Johnny Brenda’s.
Additional international touring highlights for the Spring and Summer of 2025 include The Bug Club’s European club shows (April 29th-May 15th), and festival appearances (May 15th-September ; select dates). Please find a complete list of current tour dates below.

The Bug Club’s Very Human Features includes the only-very-recently mentioned “How to Be a Confidante,” along with “Appropriate Emotions,” “Jealous Boy,” and ten other excellent songs. It was produced and mixed by Tom Rees at Rat Trap Studios in Cardiff, Wales, and mastered by Mikey Young.
Very Human Features is available to preorder now on CD/LP/all DSPs from Sub Pop. LP preorders from megamart.subpop.com in North America, MM2 in the UK + EU, and your local record store, will receive the limited Loser Edition on Purple (NA) or Bio Pink (UK/EU) vinyl (all vinyl color editions whilst stock lasts!).
In February, The Bug Club released “Have U Ever Been 2 Wales,” a joyous ode to their beloved home country that features upbeat, regionally referential lyrics like “Have you ever been to Wales? It’s good, it’s goo-ooh-ooh-ooh-hood” and “…every choir from Caldicot to Treorchy will sing it proud.” The spirited song, doubtless soon to be the new ad jingle for Visit Wales, is also out now worldwide (including Wales) on all DSPs from Sub Pop.
The Bug Club has seen support from the likes of NME, BBC, KEXP, Bandcamp Daily, Brooklyn Vegan, PASTE, Stereogum, see/saw, Dusted, The Stranger Rosy Overdrive, Glide, and more. NME said of their 2024 release On the Intricate Inner Workings of the System…., “…its 11 songs crackle with incisive melodies and funny pop culture-addled lyrics – they reference The Great Escape’s Virgil Hilts one minute, and move on to the horror of Lonsdale slip on daps the next – but they’re in and out in under 26 minutes. Zero fat.”

Band Of Horses has collaborated with dance music maverick GRYFFIN on an official 2025 version of the group’s double platinum, indie–rock classic ‘The Funeral’ out today via Sub Pop Records.
Initially released in 2006, ‘The Funeral’ reigns as one of the most potent songs of the early aughts, having soundtracked an entire generation of pop culture, and is Band of Horses’ most successful song to date.
With the rework, GRYFFIN taps into the song’s emotional core while reimagining the nostalgia–inducing gem for the dancefloor. Like his recent album PULSE, GRYFFIN’s take on the song binds past and present influences through sound, uplifting the original’s iconic melody by injecting progressive builds, surging basslines, and four–on–the–floor percussion. The 2025 edit not only commemorates ‘The Funeral’ as it approaches its 20th anniversary, but also cements a return to GRYFFIN’s roots in indie influenced electronic music.
“We’re honored that ‘The Funeral’ could be a source of inspiration for GRYFFIN. It’s exciting to see the track take on a new life and reach new ears in a fresh and unexpected way. GRYFFIN’s incredibly talented and we’re thankful he’s brought his own perspective to a song that’s meant so much to us. It’s nice. Thanks for the fresh coat of paint, GRYFFIN!” – Band of Horses
“Anyone who’s followed me since day one knows how much indie music and my early era SoundCloud remixes helped shape my sound as an artist. Late last year, I rediscovered Band of Horses’ ‘The Funeral’, and it immediately took me back to that era. In less than 24 hours, I flipped it and sent it to the band. Since then, over the last several months I’ve been lucky enough to work with Ben and his team to bring a new vision to such a legendary song.” – GRYFFIN
Remixing is embedded deep in GRYFFIN’s roots. His ability to transform mainstream hits into dancefloor anthems attributed to his early success, with his pop and indie remixes of Maroon 5, BANKS, Portugal. The Man, Ellie Goulding, and Years & Years, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, leading to a now-flourishing discography of cross-genre originals.
GRYFFIN’s ‘The Funeral’ edit arrives just in time for the kickoff of his headline PULSE: PHASE 2 Tour. The tour acts as a final hurrah for last year’s acclaimed album PULSE, which was an ode to the dancefloor and GRYFFIN’s origins in the golden era of electronic music. The 2025 edit is a fitting accompaniment to the tour as it embodies the nostalgia and sentimentality imbued throughout PULSE.
Band of Horses are also hitting the road this summer with their respective tour. The 25-date tour will see them perform at renowned music halls and amphitheaters across the US, along with festival appearances at Spoleto Festival, Sleepy Hollow Music Festival, Maha Festival, and Borderland Festival, and three stops throughout Norway. Band of Horses will also join special shows in Birmingham with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Orange Beach with The Red Clay Strays, and Saratoga with Iron & Wine.
Stream GRYFFIN’s new “The Funeral” remix available now on all platforms and catch GRYFFIN live on his PULSE: PHASE 2 Tour.

ABOUT BAND OF HORSES
There might be no other band that was able to channel the generational anxiety in those early millennial years and turn it into such powerful and inclusive art quite like Band of Horses. Band of Horses fashioned gorgeously ragged epics, Ben Bridwell’s high-flying vocals and eccentric enunciation floating like a specter that felt like a prelude to a dream. Full of profundity, truth, and sometimes just homespun advice on how to live, Band of Horses songs have become anthems and touchstones for fans — meditations on change, longing, and what a person will do to make things right. And what you do when you can’t.
The band’s debut Everything All the Time (2006) introduced their sweeping, emotionally resonant sound, and the albums that followed have cemented their place in the indie rock canon. They’ve released six studio albums, including Infinite Arms (2010), which earned a Grammy nomination. Most recently, the critically acclaimed Things Are Great (2022) finds the band recapturing the raw emotion and unpolished punk-rock spirit of its earlier days.
ABOUT GRYFFIN
Japanese-American producer, instrumentalist, songwriter, and DJ, Dan Griffith has built a breathtaking catalog of melodic dance originals and remixes as GRYFFIN. His platinum and gold-certified discography features collaborations with crossover acts like OneRepublic, Tinashe, MØ, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Noah Kahan, as well as electronic contemporaries including Kygo, Gorgon City, and Seven Lions. GRYFFIN released his chart-topping debut album Gravity in 2019, with his sophomore album Alive following in 2022 and third studio album PULSE in 2024. GRYFFIN launched the PULSE era with performances at Ultra Music Festival, Coachella’s DoLaB Stage, and EDC Las Vegas before setting out on his headline PULSE Tour.
