The Postal Service’s ‘Give Up’ Turns Ten, Gets Reissued w/ New Tracks

It’s been a difficult task to try and wrap our collective head around the fact that it’s been a full decade since The Postal Service’s game-changing, and much to the chagrin of seemingly everyone, only record was released. A lot has changed since February of 2003 (including the fact that Give Up recently went platinum!), but one thing that’s remained constant, is how truly remarkable The Postal Service record, Give Up, is. That is certainly not lost on us, which is why Sub Pop is releasing a deluxe, 10th anniversary reissue of Give Up on April 9th. The deluxe version will feature 15 bonus tracks, including two brand new Postal Service songs, “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String” (available here right now!). If there was ever record that deserved getting all deluxed up, it is most certainly this.

If you pre-order the 10th Anniversary Edition of Give Up from, you’ll receive a limited-edition Postal Service postcard set. We’re also giving people who pre-order the 3xLP vinyl version of the album the multi-colored, limited Loser Edition of Give Up. We’re also giving people who pre-order Give Up an instant download to the new song, “A Tattered Line of String”. And a note on limited-edition things: you’ve got to act quick to get yours.

Pre-order Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary and claim your postcards and Loser Edition LP.

Speaking of a tattered line of string, that decade-old Postal Service shirt you’ve been rocking is probably getting a little threadbare by now—not that you still don’t look good in it—it may just be time to re-up on your PS gear. We have two brand new Postal Service t-shirt designs to solve that problem. Here and here.

Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition facts:
- 2xCD/3xLP + Postal Service t-shirt bundles available
- Remastered 10-track original album
- 15 bonus tracks including two brand new songs and covers by The Shins and Iron & Wine
- Stream “A Tattered Line of String”, one of the two new Postal Service tracks in the accompanied YouTube player.

The Postal Service will also be setting out on a 10th anniversary tour with Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamberello as well as Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley, Jenny & Johnny). For ticketing and additional show info, click here.

Pissed Jeans Take Your Questions/Release New Record Today

Pissed Jeans’ fourth full-length record, Honeys, is truly sweaty in its entirety and it comes out on Tuesday. This is great news for fans of sweat-core, and you know what(?), it’s great news for music lovers in general.

As of Friday, Feb. 8th, we only have about 50 limited-edition, seven-inch singles featuring Pissed Jeans’ original demo (spoiler alert: it’s very sweaty), and zero more limited, Loser Edition colored-vinyl copies. It’s all standard black vinyl from here on out (it sounds just as “sweaty in its entirety” as colored-vinyl).

Other very good news: Pissed Jeans’ brand new video for “Bathroom Laughter” is premiering bright and early (for us west-coasters on PST time, anyway) over on Tuesday morning. Following Spin’s initial premiere, the video premiere extravaganza will continue on the Sub Pop YouTube Channel! We’re emboldened to say extravaganza because the fact is, this isn’t going to be some standard premiere wherein you watch the video and think to yourself, “Wow, that was a good video.”, no, this video premiere will have the added feature of a live-chat with the band from 9:00-9:30am (PST) on YouTube! So, sign in, watch the video, say something weird to the band via the comments in our YouTube player, and wake up with Pissed Jeans.

Pre-order Honeys

Stream the entire record over at SPIN right now.

Low’s ‘The Invisible Way’

Low, our favorite Duluth Minnesotans have been at it again, and we’re releasing The Invisible Way on March 19th—the fruits of them having been “at it again”. Furthermore, in accordance with the way we usually do things around here, we’re going to, for free, include a limited-edition four-song CD called The Visible End featuring alternate versions of album tracks as well as offer the limited, colored-vinyl Loser Edition of the vinyl LP to pre-orders on* as well as select independent record stores (call your local record store for availability). But, such as the nature of limited things, you have to act quickly to ensure your future ownership of the aforementioned things.

Pre-order The Invisible Way here.

A download of the song “Just Make It Stop”, which Pitchfork claimed " is more ample proof that Low are excellent at turning out a song with a simple architecture and deceptively complex emotions," is available for download here.

25 and life to go…

The Sub Pop Records Silver Jubilee: Saturday, July 13, 2013

In honor of our 25th anniversary year, we at Sub Pop Records will be hosting an altogether free event, which we’re calling The Silver Jubilee, to be held July 13, 2013 in Seattle’s historic Georgetown neighborhood. Along and surrounding Airport Way, we are fairly certain there will be some combination of… Actual live bands, playing actual live music! Some sort of art-related something or other! Like, in a gallery space, we’re thinking! A record fair-type event! Food! Beer and wine! (The food and beer and wine and soda or whatever, you will have to pay for! These parts are not free!) Good times and opportunities to embarrass yourself and those who’d always hoped for better for you! Plus, bands!

Further details will be forthcoming… until then, PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!

Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee
Saturday, July 13, 2013
In the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, WA

Preceding the The Silver Jubilee, on April 20th (Record Store Day! 4/20: something-something about weed!) we will release Sub Pop 1000, a limited-edition compilation of what we feel are some of today’s most vital artists from around the world. Sub Pop 1000 is comprised entirely of unreleased and exclusive tracks. It will be available digitally and in a vinyl pressing of 5,000 copies, on some dazzling color of vinyl that we have yet to figure out. The vinyl will include an 11″×11″ booklet and an MP3 download coupon. Sub Pop 1000 was inspired by our landmark 1986 compilation, Sub Pop 100, which championed artists such as Sonic Youth, Wipers and the U-Men. Please find a full tracklist for Sub Pop 1000 below.

The Baptist Generals

A decade is certainly a long time to have to wait for anything—it’s an especially excruciating period to wait for a sophomore release from a band you love. The Baptist Generals released the very excellent, critically acclaimed No Silver / No Gold in 2003 and we waited (and waited) for a follow-up. Rumors flew, time passed, legend became myth, and then one day, music came in. Jackleg Devotional to the Heart is the second Baptist Generals record and it’s coming out on May 21, 2013. This is exceedingly excellent news. And we hope that on hearing a new song from this record, it will be just as immediately apparent to you as it was to us: Jackleg Devotional to the Heart is worth the wait. Please listen to the brand new track, “Dog That Bit You”, and welcome The Baptist Generals back; they’re sounding better than ever.
