Last month, Sub Pop shared details on behalf of Twisted Teens new album The Holy Cross Tigers set for worldwide release on Friday, November 6th. Today, you can watch a new, wonderfully weird official video for the ribald album opener, “Stalks,” starring the band and directed by Mama Hot Dog. Watch here.

Twisted Teens will resume their 2026 tour dates beginning on November 3rd in New York, with a sold-out, headlining show at The Bowery Ballroom. The band will then join their recent tourmates Kurt Vile & The Violators on their headlining run, beginning Wednesday, November 4th in Buffalo, NY, at Asbury Hall and running through Tuesday, November 24th in Baltimore, MD, at Ottobar.
Twisted Teens will also close out 2026 with a tour of Australia beginning Friday, December 11th, in Melbourne at Howler and ending Wednesday, December 16th, in Sydney with a sold-out show at Oxford Art Factory. Twisted Teens’ The Holy Cross Tigers is now available for preorder on CD/LP/CS/Digitally from Sub Pop. LP purchases in North America from the Sub Pop Mega Mart, in the EU/UK from MegaMart Europe, at the band’s live shows and from your local record store will receive the limited Loser Edition on Maroon vinyl. There is also a Bandcamp exclusive on Opaque Maroon w/Black Swirl vinyl (all vinyl colors whilst stock lasts!). Three new T-shirt designs (2 for US, 1 for EU/UK) are also available.
Pitchfork included the band in its “34 Most Anticipated Albums of Fall 2026” feature, and said, “Focusing on Twisted Teens’ relentless output in 2026 misses the point. Instead, track the fluidity of their strut through garage rock, country, and traditional folk; on The Holy Cross Tigers, that effortless sway of hypnotic steel guitar over shuffling drums presents like an old jukebox standard that you’re hearing for the first time. Place your trust in that timelessness. Caspian Halliwell and RJ Santos steer their New Orleans band like a pontoon boat: balanced, unadorned, and old-school in that it reinforces only the bare-bones necessities required for a good time.”

Today, Thursday, October 1st, 2026, Shabazz Palaces is sharing “Tongue In Chic,” a new wave R&B jam with humorous reflections on his dating life. It’s also another highlight from It’s a Style Sport, out later this month worldwide from Sub Pop. Listen here.
The Stranger reviewed Shabazz Palaces’ live performance of “Tongue In Chic” at their Genius Awards event last month, and said of the track: “The standout for me was the closer—a new song called “Tongue In Chic”…In the song, Butler raps coolly, ‘New girlfriend, that’s what I need,’ and goes on to regale us with his experience dating a woman who claimed to be a chef but has an empty fridge and no utensils. This song was fucking funny and cool.”
“Tongue In Chic” features Shabazz Palaces’ Ishmael Butler (Vocals, Drum Machine, Keyboards), along with Gerald “Tugboat” Turner (Bass), Thaddeus “Thaddillac” Turner (Guitar, Keyboards), and album co-producer Erik Blood (Guitar).
Later this evening, Shabazz Palaces will host an early album listening party for Southern California fans at Los Angeles, CA’s Gold Line Bar from 6-8 PM PT. The event is open to the public, free for entry, and 21+. Entry is first-come, first-served.
Shabazz Palaces’ It’s a Style Sport is available now to preorder on CD/LP/Digital from Sub Pop. LP preorders from megamart.subpop.com in North America, Mega Mart Europe in the UK and EU, and your local record store will receive the limited Loser edition on Metallic Silver (North America) and Sparkle Starlight (EU/UK) vinyl (while supplies last).
It’s a Style Sport is the eighth Shabazz Palaces studio album and the first since the release of sibling mini-albums 2023’s Robed In Rareness and 2024’s Exotic Birds Of Prey.
It’s a bold, forthright, heavy-hitting album. Throughout, Butler compiles what he’s learned from his storied, dense career into a playful, shimmering portal, again proving himself an artist of chameleonic ambition, fuelled by curiosity, courage, and a limitless imagination.
It’s a Style Sport also features guest appearances from Marquette Miller, Darrius Willrich, Evan Flory-Barnes, Kassa Overall, Carlos Overall, and the aforementioned Turner brothers. The album was produced by Shabazz Palaces and Blood, recorded at Circular Ruin Studios in Brooklyn (NY), Lake View Studios and Hall of Justice in Seattle (WA), and Parkman Labs in Los Angeles (CA). It was mixed by Blood at Circular Ruin, and mastered by Warren Defever at Third Man Mastering in Detroit (MI).
Pitchfork included It’s a Style Sport in its “34 Most Anticipated Albums for Fall 2024,” and said, “Lead single ‘Ahh World (I Won The Alpha Bet)’ sets lucid social commentary to ominous beats that sound like the very dystopian future he rallies listeners to prevent; ‘Jheri Curl Jump,’ meanwhile, is a loquacious love story murmured over jittery electro-funk.”
Tracklisting: 1. Ahh World (I Won The Alpha Bet) 2. Field Notes 3. Show Me Missouri In Mink 4. Jheri Curl Jump 5. Deadstock Dude 6. Tongue In Chic 7. Heliocentric Immortality Manifesto H.I.M. 8. Olivia According To Touch 9. Money Can’t Save Your Mind 10. From One Future To Another

Recently, Rolling Stone caught Father John Misty’s surprise 2026 Newport Folk Fest performance, and offered this: “Given his addition as a last-minute substitution for Tedeschi Trucks Band following their health-related cancellation, it came as some surprise (and a thrilling one at that) that Father John Misty chose this relatively high-profile setting to test out a notable chunk of new, unreleased material. There were songs about doomsday-prepper dystopia, songs about fathers who may in fact be secret CIA spies (that one’s called “Josh Tillman, His Father, and the Scottsdale Experience”), and politically charged songs portraying right-wing xenophobia (sample lyric: “We need walls that never end/An ocean sideways between us and them”). He was accompanied for some of the set by David Rawlings, best known as Gillian Welch’s longtime sideman; mostly, though, the bearded California satirist switched between piano and guitar during his entirely acoustic, stripped-down set. It was a bold bet that paid off thanks to the new songs themselves.”
Today, noisy, genre-bending band PISS has shared an official video for “blocking a scene you can’t remember,” one of the standout tracks from their debut effort, you made me / skin on linen, which will be available on October 30th on LP/CD/CS/DSPs worldwide from Sub Pop and in Canada from Paper Bag Records. “blocking a scene you can’t remember” is a devastating, climactic slow-core song about sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. The lyrics take the form of a monologue read by a girl in her room, rehearsing a long-overdue confrontation with a man from her past. This official video was co-directed by PISS frontperson Tay Zantingh & Nushi Sharma. Click HERE to watch.
PISS will embark on a 12-date run in direct support of Dublin post-punk group Gilla Band, with additional performances at European festivals, including Pitchfork Paris in Paris, France; Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavik, Iceland; Sonic City in Kortrijk, Belgium; and more. PISS is Taylor Zantingh (vocals), Tyler Paterson (guitar), Gavin Moya (bass), and Garreth Roberts (drums). The band recorded their debut album, you made me / skin on linen, in January 2025 with Colin Stewart at Hive Creative Labs. The album is forthcoming on October 30, 2026, via Paper Bag Records (Canada) and Sub Pop Records (worldwide).
The Vancouver, B.C., four-piece combines punk, poetry, sound collage, performance art, and visual art, creating a multidisciplinary body of work that blurs the line between the personal and the political. you made me / skin on linen depicts a childhood shaped by structural, systemic, and intimate violence. Throughout the record, art-making motifs serve as metaphors for the myriad ways we carry the effects of this violence: each experience leaves an impression, gradually creating or deforming the self, much like a piece of clay molded by every mark it receives. The record resists simple conclusions; rather than offering a single perspective, it examines violence as a ubiquitous facet of our culture. It asks questions—how does violence impact our development? Are our wounds inextricable parts of us? And if not, then where do our wounds end and we begin?—and allows the listener to devise their own answers.
What people are saying about PISS: “time loop at hot slit,” a frantic outburst about growing up amidst systemic violence that reportedly has emerged as an anthem within the band’s local scene.” [“time loop at hot slit”]. Stereogum
“A blistering hurricane of hardcore-meets-artcore that genuinely defies categorisation.”Shindig!
“Their shows are finely choreographed, emotionally intense and deeply immersive… The effect is jarring, unsettling and profoundly moving.” The Guardian
“Piss will not be forgotten by anyone who saw them” MOJO (End of the Road review)
“Their performance is moving, terrifying and haunting.” So Young (EOTR review)
“Devastatingly powerful hardcore punk, complete with performance art flourishes and crushing narrative poetics… PISS are fated to become leaders of the contemporary hardcore punk movement, returning it to its fierce roots of political candor and forthright rage.”DIY
“One of punk’s most talked about new bands.. It’s hard to think of another vocalist who gives so much of themselves onstage as Tay Zantingh.”Dork

On Friday, November 20th, Sub Pop will release Sebadoh’s Harmacy(30th Anniversary Expanded Edition) worldwide on 2xLP, 2xCD, and digitally through all streaming providers. This thoughtfully expanded update finally makes the group’s seminal out-of-print 1996 indie-rock album available again on physical formats, adding 16 bonus tracks, including alternate versions, rare B-sides, BBC sessions, and live material from the Harmacy era.
JJ Golden at Golden Mastering has also retouched and remastered this 30th anniversary expanded edition. You can now listen to today’s offering, an alternate version of “Beauty of the Ride.”
Sebadoh’s Harmacy(30th Anniversary Expanded Edition) is available now to preorder on CD/LP/Digital from Sub Pop. LP preorders from megamart.subpop.com in North America, Mega Mart Europe in the UK and EU, and your local record store will receive the limited Loser edition on Sky Blue and Opaque Red Sparkle vinyl (while supplies last). The LP edition also includes the 12-page “Lou’s Harmacy Timeline” zine, written and illustrated by Sebadoh’s Lou Barlow.
Sebadoh formed in 1986 in Northampton, Massachusetts, with Eric Gaffney and Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr., The Folk Implosion), adding multi-instrumentalist Jason Loewenstein in 1989, and Bob Fay in 1994. By 1994, the band had released five records and more or less changed the pockmarked face of indie rock. Their albums were mostly home recordings, decried for their lack of sharp production, but embraced by fans of Barlow’s intimate songwriting style, which owed as much to Joni Mitchell as Bob Mould.
Harmacy is their breakout sixth album, and was originally released in August 1996 to immense critical and popular acclaim. It found Sebadoh as conflicted as ever: torn between screaming punk and gentle crooning, replete with highly personal songs guaranteed to bring down even the most super-charged midnight ravers. Released in the wake of The Folk Implosion’s Top 40 hit “Natural One,” Harmacy became Sebadoh’s first charting album in the US. Their US tour following its release was by far their most successful to date, selling out almost everywhere, and complete with screaming, autograph-demanding young fans chanting the words to Harmacy’s deceptively upbeat single “Ocean”.
Interview Magazine said of the album, “Harmacy is nothing short of a masterpiece.” The New Yorker called it a collection of “perfectly crafted, honest (read: ambiguous and emotionally twisted), impassioned songs about love and hate.” Harmacy was also hailed as one of the best albums of 1996 by the likes of Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, and NME.
