Here’s what Sub Pop has planned for this year’s SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX! Our week of parties, events and band shows include:

Ring, featuring Kelly Deal (Misra).

Thursday, March 13th: Sub Pop & sister label Hardly Art will team up with KEXP for the “Officially Unofficial” day party & broadcast at Mellow Johnny’s. The party will feature performances from Dum Dum Girls, La Luz, THUMPERS, and Avi Buffalo. Visit KEXP.ORG for live updates throughout the day.

You, Sub Pop, & 2013’s SXSW

Are you by chance heading down to South By Southwest this year? ?? (Was your answer “yes” to that question? If so, read on, if it was “no”, see the below*)?? That’s crazy, because us too! Well, some of us are. The “us” to which I am referring are the collective “us” that is comprised of the always terrific Sub Pop recording artists METZ, Pissed Jeans, Rose Windows, Jaill and King Tuff. There will be other Sub Pop employees there, but they won’t be playing shows, so they don’t really matter too much in the context of this blog post(though I’m certain that if you found one, they’d definitely buy you a drink or your choosing). Since you are going to SXSW, why not take a minute to acquaint/reacquaint yourself with the aforementioned bands through the magic of this playlist we’re not-so-creatively calling, “The Sub Pop Bands Playing SXSW This Year.” I think you’ll be impressed.

*That’s crazy, because neither are we! Well, some of “we” aren’t going, but others of us are. The “we” that are going are the always terrific Sub Pop recording artists METZ, Pissed Jeans, Rose Windows, Jaill and King Tuff. And while it is a bit of a bummer that not everyone gets to go down and enjoy warm, sunny Austin to see a lot of very exciting bands do their thing, you can still listen to them from wherever you are (we’re in the very gray city of Seattle not at all bitter that we don’t get to go to balmy Austin to watch a ton of bands) through the magic of this playlist we’re not-so-creatively calling, “The Sub Pop Bands Playing SXSW This Year”, you can listen to these bands as if you are there in person (minus the sun and ice-cold Shiners).

Sub Pop’s 2012 SxSW Showcase Is Going to be Streaming All Over the Place

11356

As you may or may not already be aware, right now the city of Austin, TX is in the midst of being utterly and quite happily engulfed by the South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Festival, Conference and Giant Branding Opportunity. And at this festival, we at the Sub Pop Recording Concern of Seattle, Wash, are hosting a showcase this coming Friday night, March 16th at Red 7. It will, we are very much hoping, be an exceptionally good time for everyone in attendance. We have already provided details on that, though.

The thing we have not yet provided details about is that even those of you NOT in actual, physical attendance can watch all of the performances on one of the two stages at our showcase online at TapIntoAustin2012.com! You will also be able to watch performances by Debo Band (who are putting out a record on Next Ambiance/Sub Pop in July) and Gashcat (whose records Sub Pop does not release, but who are playing the showcase just the same).

Also! There will be live events in five different cities where all manner of crazy and fun junk will be happening, along with the live streaming of the portion of Sub Pop’s 2012 South by Southwest showcase described at sufficient length in the previous paragraph.
