Hot Snakes resurface with a new song and video! Now see here “I Shall Be Free”

U.S. tour dates February 22nd through March 12th, 2020.

The official video for Hot Snakes’ “I Shall Be Free,” directed and animated by Tiger Reis (the clip’s 13-year-old auteur and offspring of the band’s Swami John Reis), is out today! “I Shall Be Free” is a brand new single you can also listen to now through all the various DSPs. This new song follows the December 2019 release of the single “Checkmate,” which is also available now through all DSPs. And, “I Shall Be Free” will also be available directly from the band, in very limited numbers, as a physical 7” at their upcoming shows, starting Feb. 27. The 7” will also include the exclusive b-side “A Place in the Sun.”

“I Shall Be Free” is the second single in the series of four 7”s leading up to the next full-length LP. Each single being a seasonal release. “I Shall Be Free” is the Spring installment. The song is defiant anti-work protest punque. The slash your face chords and bassless undertow channels an AC/DC-Cramps hybrid that completely misses the mark. Primo Hot Snakes.

With its title ripped from a passage in the Scott Walker-biography Deep Shade Of Blue, the record is a concentrated effort by Jaap van der Velde, Erik Woudwijk and Elias Elgersma to explore the physicality of their music in fresh ways (read more at Sub Pop).

Watch Moaning’s New Animated Video for “Fall in Love” - Premiere via Adult Swim

Spring tour dates announced including SXSW. Uneasy Laughter is out March 20th.

Today, LA’s Moaning have shared a video for ”Fall In Love,” the latest from their forthcoming sophomore album, Uneasy Laughter. The video, which premiered via Adult Swim today, was animated and directed by Moaning’s own Sean Solomon.

Of the song and video, Solomon says “People my age are skeptical of love because we see how many previous generations got divorced or went through painful experiences. The song is about being afraid to fall in love because of expecting heartbreak. It’s about hating yourself too much to open yourself up to someone else. It’s a bummer of a song lyrically but it’s pretty fun to dance to!

I made the music video in my bedroom a couple weeks ago. It’s a psychedelic depiction of an imaginary romance. It’s inspired by early experimental animations like Belladonna of Sadness and Heavy Metal. Both the song and the video are perfect for everyone feeling like shit this Valentine’s Day.”

Uneasy Laughter is available for pre-order and due March 20th via Sub Pop.

ROLLING BLACKOUTS COASTAL FEVER RELEASES NEW SINGLE/VIDEO, “CARS IN SPACE”

Melbourne-based Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have released a new single, “Cars In Space,” and accompanying video as you see here.

Watch worldwide from this link here.

“Cars In Space” is “the swirling words and thoughts before a breakup,” says Fran Keaney. It’s bold and classic, and propelled by the band’s singular chemistry. Its accompanying video, directed by Nick Mckk and Julia Jacklin, is set in broad daylight at an old-school Australian drive-in.

“Cars In Space” is the first taste of new music from Rolling Blackouts C.F. since their “In The Capital” / “Read My Mind” 7”, and its predecessor, 2018’s Hope Downs, “a debut album that applies their infectious brand of motorik jangle rock to lovelorn ruminations and geopolitical laments” (Pitchfork). Hope Downs was released to an incredible reception, earning year-end praise from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Paste, and more. Meanwhile, the band’s renowned live show led to selling-out their mammoth Hope Downs Australian tour, as well as sold-out performances in London, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Philadelphia, New York City and more.  The huge touring schedule also included shows at the world’s biggest music festivals, from Coachella, The Great Escape, Primavera, and Shaky Knees to Lowlands, Pukklepop, Green Man and Splendour in the Grass.
