THUMPERS’ ‘Galore’ Officially in Brick & Mortar AND Virtual Music Stores!

Putting out a band’s debut record is a proud moment for the (not terribly proud) people of Sub Pop Records, and the London-based band THUMPERS’ debut, Galore, is no exception. Galore is an immediately engrossing, hopelessly catchy record that we’re stoked to stamp with the catalog number SP1062. If you order the record on LP from the Sub Pop Mega Mart, you’ll receive your copy on the limited, colored-vinyl Loser Edition of Galore. This is a classic while-they-last scenario, so order quickly!

Order THUMPERS’ Galore from SubPop.com here.

The Notwist’s “Kong” Gets a Video Counterpart (Spoiler: It’s MAGICAL)

We’re just about two short weeks from The Notwist’s Sub Pop debut, Close To The Glass, and the band have given us a brand new animated short for the shimmering, propulsive, sonic diamond that is the album track “Kong”. The whole package–perfect song + tediously and endlessly charming animated short–is a wonderful cinematic experience. Be a hero and share it w/ a friend.

If you pre-order Close to the Glass, you will receive a set of small, limited-edition art prints. Speaking of limited-edition, if you pre-order the record on the vinyls, you’ll receive the limited, colored-vinyl Loser Edition of Close to the Glass; in this case a 2xLP, one orange and one blue with an etching on the fourth side of the LP (the etching will also be on non-Loser Edition LPs, BTW). And, as is always the case with limited-edition things, when they’re gone, they’re gone, so order now!

Sub Pop Makes Record Store Day 2014 Worth Living

Rsd blog

Record Store Day 2014 is a mere 51 days away according to the official countdown over at RSD.com, and with the popularity of vinyl ever increasing, there are more Record Store Day exclusives in 2014 to sift through than ever before. This means one or two of the following things: 1) You are going to spend MUCH MORE money than last year; and/or 2) It’s going to be tough to stick out in crowded record bins full of limited-edition, Record Store Day-only releases. Well, we here at Sub Pop HQ read the tea leaves, studied the data points, and decided early on that we were going to have to do something really special to stand out this year. We went to work, trimmed the fat, and got our release list to the four most exciting, collectable, sonically pleasing, limited-edition Sub Pop Record Store Day Releases ever. To get a full appreciation of what I’m bullshitting so eloquently about, see below. We’ll see you at your local independent record retailer at four in the morning on April 19th. You bring the coffee. And the donuts.

Mudhoney On Top:  KEXP Presents Mudhoney Live on Top of the Space Needle LP: In 2013 both Mudhoney and Sub Pop turned 25, and, in celebration of this milestone, the band performed on the actual roof of Seattle’s iconic and also very tall Space Needle. Due to space limitations up on top, and the obvious safety issues involved, only about 13 people were able to bear witness to this performance (and you can hear each of them, clapping individually between songs). Our friends at KEXP recorded and broadcast this monumentally historic event, and this limited-edition vinyl LP preserves it for eternity. Limited to 2,700 copies worldwide.

Pissed Jeans The Very Best of Sub Pop 2009-2013: Live at the BBC 12” EP: Here are four live-in-the-studio tracks that (finally!) give meaning and validation to Sub Pop’s existence. This historic platter is limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, and these versions of the tracks are exclusive to this release.

Chad VanGaalen “I Want You Back” 7” Single: This single features four new tracks from the Calgary artist’s vault of unheard music. Exactly none of these tracks appear on Chad’s forthcoming album, Shrink Dust (out 4/29 on Sub Pop!). The dare-we-say incredible cover art is by Chad himself. Limited to 2,300 copies worldwide.

The Notwist “Run Run Run” 12” Single: “Run Run Run” is from the band’s just-released album, Close to the Glass, and this single also includes three more, unreleased tracks: one new song, and two exclusive remixes of “Run Run Run.” Both sides of the record feature a special double groove, with each parallel groove containing a different song. Limited to 1,900 copies worldwide.
