Y’all know what The Shortlist Music Prize for Artists Achievement in Music is? Don’t worry, I didn’t until recently, either. It’s actually super-cool; almost like the ghetto Grammys for independent artists who’ve sold under 500,000 records. I shouldn’t say “ghetto”, as it’s a big honor, but you know what I’m sprayin’, right?Anyway, our very own IRON AND WINE has been nominated, and we couldn’t be happier or prouder!According to the press release, the award has been around since 2001 and it "honors the most creative artistic records of the year as decided by a panel of some of the most respected musical figures in the world. This year’s “Listmakers” (nominators) include Norah Jones, Robert Smith, Jack Black, Perry Farrell, John Mayer, Jim Jarmusch, Serj Tankian (System of a Down) and many others….Ten Finalists (the “Shortlist”) will be announced on September 20th and the winner will be decided from these 10 at a special gala concert at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theater on November 11, 2004."Cross your fingers, buddies!
