Today, Thursday, May 14th, 2026, Sub Pop is pleased to welcome (back) Sera Cahoone, the talented singer-songwriter, musician, and producer, to the label’s roster, with plans to release her new music in 2026 and beyond. To celebrate her return, Cahoone is sharing the official video for her new song, the twangy lover’s lament “Say Something,” which is out today on all streaming services.
“Say Something” was co-produced by Cahoone and John Morgan Askews at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, WA, mixed by Askews at Scenic Burrows in Vancouver, WA, and mastered by JJ Golden at Golden Mastering.
Sera Cahoone also breaks a leg (literally!) and stars in the accompanying official video for the song, in which she portrays a worker at a local skating rink, singing about a past love as the patrons pass her by. The sweet new visual is directed by Bella Petro.
Cahoone says of the video, “Filming this video was an absolute blast, walking boot and all! If I had it my way, I would have had the skaters in the video the entire time. They were incredibly entertaining to watch. Bella and Brennan did a fantastic job.”
Sera Cahoone has been a fixture on the Seattle music scene since relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 1998. She played drums with slowcore legends Carissa’s Wierd until they split in 2003. Cahoone joined her CW alums in Band of Horses, playing on their certified Gold 2006 album Everything All the Time.
That same year, Sera Cahoone released a self-titled debut that established her as a singular songwriter and gifted guitarist. Cahoone signed with Sub Pop soon after, releasing 2008’s Only as the Day Is Long and 2012’s Deer Creek Canyon. She followed the Sub Pop run by self-releasing 2017’s rollicking and raucous From Where I Started.
In the 8 years following that album, Sera Cahoone experienced profound loss. She channeled the heartbreak into writing songs, playing shows, and developing her skills as a producer and drummer, producing three records for friends like Dean Johnson and Margo Cilker.
Now in 2026, Sera Cahoone reemerges with “Say Something,” a cathartic new song with a sense of lightness throughout – from the carefree piano to the electric guitar that revs it to life. It features contributions from longtime friends and collaborators Jeff Fielder (acoustic, electric guitar), Daniel Walker (piano, Hammond organ), Jonas Haskins (bass), and Aaron O’Neil (drums), with John Askew overseeing production (producer of Cahoone’s From Where I Started).
Sera Cahoone is currently putting the finishing touches on her new album, due out later this year from Sub Pop.
The Head And The Heart announce the release of the live version of their RIAA Certified Platinum debut album, The Head and The Heart (Live at Neumos). The live album features 12 of their original songs, plus a cover of Jimmie Rodgers “T Is For Texas (Blue Yodel No. 1)”, performed live at Neumos on January 14, 2011, a local venue where the band played some of their first-ever shows in Seattle. Off the album is the single “Rivers And Roads (Live at Neumos)” which is out now - listen here.
The Head And The Heart will further revisit the album on their 15th Anniversary Tour in support of their 15th Anniversary Deluxe album which is out now - listen here. Upcoming dates include two sold-out shows at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, and more this summer.
The Head And The Heart was born of Seattle’s music scene in 2009, formed by a group of musicians who met at open mic night and then began busking and playing small venues, gradually building a devoted following through their communal energy and layered vocal harmonies. Their self-titled debut album, The Head and the Heart (2011), initially gained traction as a self-release before the band was signed by Sub Pop, the influential indie rock label that helped bring their music to a wider audience. The album’s raw, intimate sound—blending traditional folk with modern indie sensibilities—played a key role in the early 2010s folk revival and left a lasting imprint on emerging artists.

Sweeping Promises are currently hard at work on the follow-up to their acclaimed 2023 record Good Living Is Coming for You, which Rolling Stone described as “…relentlessly catchy, gloriously low-fi punk.” More news is coming sooner than you expect.
What people are saying about Sweeping Promises: “Their sound rattles with reverb; compact basslines play off of surf-rock riffs, chipper analog synthesizers, and Mondal’s expansive vocal range. Against a terrain of post-punk revivalists, Sweeping Promises resemble the genuine article, combining the operatics of X-Ray Spex’s Poly Styrene with the campy professionalism of Blondie and Devo.” - Stereogum
“The density of the hooks on these 10 songs, most under three minutes, is staggering, with basslines worthy of early Cure, slash-and-burn riffage, bleating sax, weirdo keyboards, drums that wallop without being showy, and Mondal’s voice which just seems to have gotten better over the last three years.” - [Good Living Is Coming For You] Brooklyn Vegan
“…you’re hit with a streamlined barrage of crunchy guitar, bargain-bin synths, snappy drums, and, most critically, Lira Mondal’s titanic vocals. Her acrobatic, ear-shattering wail pirouettes to perfection across Good Living Is Coming For You…” - Pitchfork
”Good Living Is Coming for You is a deliberate shake to the shoulders, a wake-up call, and a cautionary tale of what happens when you stay compliant. With unflinching scrutiny and refreshing candor, Sweeping Promises bring a sense of awareness to times that feel apocalyptic.” - FLOOD
A moth knight descends the endless steps of “Fantasia” in the new animated lyric video for SLIFT’s pummeling epic “The Day of Execution,” directed by Ben Amos Cooper. The song is from the French heavy psychedelic rock group’s forthcoming album Fantasia.
SLIFT says of the song and visual, “’The Day Of Execution’ is about the effect of time passing on each and every one of us, and about memory loss. It portrays the nostalgia that creeps into us as time goes by. Fantasia is such an ancient city that it no longer remembers itself, and this gradually alienates its inhabitants.”
SLIFT is also sharing new headlining dates in North America, the UK, and the EU for the fall of 2026 and early 2027 in support of Fantasia. The new dates begin Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 in Boston, MA at the Sinclair and run through Saturday, February 6th, 2027 in Madrid, ES at Wolf.
The North American dates run from October 6th-24th, and include stops in New York, DC, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, St. Paul, Denver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
The 2026 UK/EU leg runs November 17th-December 13th and will include stops in France (Ramonville-Saint-Agne, La Rochelle, Nantes, Rennes, Villeurbanne, Strasbourg, Lille), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Groningen), Germany (Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin), Czech Republic (Prague), Italy (Milan), Belgium (Brussels), Switzerland (Zurich), Ireland (Dublin), and UK (Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham, and London).
SLIFT’s early 2027 shows will run February 3rd-5th and include stops in Portugal (Porto, Lisbon) and Spain (Barcelona).

SLIFT will release Fantasia, their new album, on Friday, June 5th, 2026 worldwide from Sub Pop. The longplayer was produced by the band at Daft Studios in Brussels, Belgium, mixed by Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg at Vrtkl Audio in Stockholm, Sweden. Fantasia features the aformentioned “The Day of Execution,” the title track, and the soaring lead single, “A Storm of Wings”
Fantasia is now available for preorder on CD/2xLP/Digitally worldwide from Sub Pop. 2xLP preorders in North America through megamart.subpop.com and in the UK/EU from Mega Mart Europe will receive the limited Loser Edition on Mustard Yellow (North America) and Sparkle Starlight (UK/EU) colored vinyl. The limited Loser Editions will also be available at your local record store while supplies last.
What People Have Said About SLIFT: ”[‘A Storm Of Wings’ is] every bit as mind-expanding, groove-based, and swirling as fans could hope for. The guitars are heavy and squealing, the bass is booming and pushed forward in the mix, and the vocals match the cut’s hypnotic intensity. It’s a dynamic, fantastic journey through the cosmos via fuzz tones and crash cymbals — what’s not to like?” “Songs of the Week,” Consequence
“Lead single ‘A Storm Of Wings’ wrings tension and beauty out of chugging low-end and strategic effects pedals.” STEREOGUM
“The first single from the album is “A Storm With Wings,” a raging ripper that owes a lot to ’70s Detroit and ’90s Seattle and takes aim at corrupt politicians everywhere.” BROOKLYN VEGAN
“…They’re a group that have forged something that is theirs alone, sweeping from psych-drone territory into Tool-like mechanical riffage, hardcore vocals, and full-on space rock jams. ‘A Storm Of Wings’ is the first sample of the forthcoming album Fantasia (which is shaping up to be a lot less boring than the disappointing Disney film of the same name).” Guitar World
“Intense, pummeling single…” [“A Storm Of Wings”] Our Culture
“Crosshatching space rock to stoner metal, Krautrock to black metal, the void to the arduous resurrection, their musical scope is broad enough to at least approach that end-times question: Where can we go when what we have is gone?” “Album Of The Day,” Bandcamp
“Exhilaratingly expansive music balanced by a sense of darkness and foreboding, traveling simultaneously into outer space and inner turmoil. SLIFT’s expansive energy and transcendental creativity provide a uniquely rewarding thrill.” Kerrang!
“An exhilarating ride, one which continually scales modes of attack and intensity, even as it’s held in place by SLIFT’s purposeful songwriting.” The Wire
“SLIFT’s mind-expanding mastery of heavy dynamics, six-string flair and psychedelic experimentalism marks them out as one of the most exciting metal bands we’ve heard…” Guitar World
“Though French cosmonauts Slift are very much a cult prospect, it’s only a matter of time before their mesmerising live shows make them superstars…The trio’s concerts are transcendent, cosmic thrillrides. Their genre-jumping deviations are always erratic and exciting, anchored around the herculean drumming of Canek Flores. Meanwhile, the otherworldly aura emitted by singer/guitarist Jean Fossat’s distorted wails and echoing riffs, and his bassist brother Remí’s throbbing twangs, is hammered home by a huge video backdrop, playing what seem to be Doctor Who openings that were abandoned for being too weird.” ★★★★★Metal Hammer

“…power-pop jangles that intersect the timelines of The Replacements and modern indie pop acts like Alvvays. These songs are littered with earworms, hooks, and an infectious sense of optimism.” RANGE
“A bigger, bolder sounding record than its predecessor… There are shades of British glam rock in “Never In Style”, and the primal, melodic impressions of The Replacements and Elvis Costello & The Attractions pepper the nooks and crannies of the record overall. Above all, it sounds fun.” The Line Of Best Fit
“For fans of power-pop main players such as Sugar, Posies, Teenage Fanclub and The Replacements, if this is a weird nightmare its one that no one will be in a rush to wake up from.” - Classic Rock

What people have said about Weird Nightmare: “…an undeniably infectious power-pop anthem” - [“Forever Elsewhere”] Stereogum
“…rippling power pop cut.”- [“Might See You There”] Exclaim!
“Inspired by the simplicity and ‘big bar chords’ of The Undertones and Protex, [‘Might See You There’] evokes a rose-tinted sense of teenage nostalgia.” DIY
“Weird Nightmare is all about hooks and melody. Still delivered with levels in the red, but these are ultracatchy powerpop songs first and foremost, and really good ones at that.” Brooklyn Vegan
“The debut Weird Nightmare album from METZ guitarist/vocalist Alex Edkins is a hook-filled set of blown-out power-pop with distorted guitars, punchy rhythms and bright pop melodies.” KEXP
“Alex Edkins finally lets those melodies loose, resulting in an irresistibly euphoric blast of feedback spattered garage-pop that is just what the doctor ordered to chase away any lingering post-lockdown blues.’” The Quietus
