Earlier this week, in conjunction with the release of their very excellent sophomore record Let’s Be Still, The Head and the Heart gave an astounding performance of the album track “Shake” on David Letterman. Watch that in the embed.
Our good friends over at Rolling Stone are premiering The Head and the Heart’s forthcoming, and frankly, nothing short of magical new record, Let’s Be Still, all week. And conveniently, because we’ve always got you, the music-loving, discerning consumer in mind, we’ve got the record premiere embedded in this very blog post, that way, you don’t have to go too far to hear the previously mentioned magic yourself.
If you pre-order Let’s Be Still from us here at Sub Pop, you’ll receive a limited-edition The Head and the Heart postcard set. If you pre-order the vinyl LP format of the record, you’ll receive the limited, colored-vinyl Loser Edition of the 2xLP, in this case, clear/blue and clear/gold—the duo is nothing short of resplendent. As is the nature of limited things, when they’re gone, they’re gone, so order quickly.

2011 was an amazing year for The Head and the Heart and, though it is difficult to even imagine, 2012 is looking like it will be even more amazing-er. They just announced another headlining run of US tour dates starting March 3rd in Avon, CO (Full list of dates here) and will be featured on the legendary TV music program Austin City Limits (ACL), this Saturday, January 7th. In other AACL news (that’s “Amazing Austin City Limits news” not “Alcoholics Anonymous City Limits news”…): Fleet Foxes will appear on the January 21st episode of the show! We’ll have more info on that closer to the 21st. You can find your local PBS channel and schedule here!
2011 has been an amazing year for Seattle’s The Head and the Heart. Since the release of their self-titled debut (which to date has scanned more than 70,000 copies in the US) the band has been touring non-stop, playing shows with Death Cab for Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, Dr. Dog, and The Decemberists. They are currently on their first headlining tour with more than half of the shows SOLD OUT far in advance, including a 2-night stand at New York’s, Bowery Ballroom. The band has also performed to jam-packed crowds at Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party and, most recently, the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
And this week The Head and the Heart’s “Lost in My Mind” is the #1 single in the country at Triple A radio. This comes 24 weeks after entering the chart and makes The Head and the Heart the first artist to reach #1 at the format with a debut single since Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” this past January.
Continuing to tour across the US through October, followed by dates in the UK and Europe in November and Australia at the end of the year, The Head and the Heart will remain incredibly busy for the foreseeable future. On October 28th the band will play on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. And, in addition, the legendary TV music program Austin City Limits has announced that The Head and the Heart will be part of its 37th season on PBS. This season marks the first ACL television season filmed entirely in the show’s new venue ACL Live at The Moody Theater. The performance will air in early 2012.
