Obits: Romance Awareness Month Tour 2011 (and also related merchandise)

It’s possible that you are already aware of the very nearly right upon us Romance Awareness Month Tour 2011. This, of course, is a real mouthful of a title. It is also, of course, the tour which will bring both Obits and Disappears to 7 (seven) cities on the west coast, starting tomorrow, August 18th in Vancouver, BC and ending August 25th in San Diego, CA. Mind you, this is the first time Obits have toured on the west coast since their most recent record, Moody, Standard and Poor was released and also the first shows they’ll be playing with their new drummer, Alexis Fleisig. You should totally go.

Here’s the complete list of dates!
bq. Aug 1- Vancouver, BC (Canada) at the Biltmore Cabaret
Aug 19 – Seattle, WA at The Crocodile
Aug 20 – Portland, OR at the Doug Fir Lounge
Aug 22 – San Francisco, CA at Bottom of the Hill
Aug 23 – Visalia, CA at the Cellar Door
Aug 24 – Los Angeles, CA at the Satellite
Aug 25 – San Diego, CA at The Casbah

Related to Obits’ Romance Awareness Month Tour 2011, we at Sub Pop are right now selling, here on our internet concern, a poster the band caused to be made specifically to commemorate (and, okay, maybe promote) these dates. It’s a handsome piece of printed material. See for yourself and then please buy one for yourself or a loved one. We also still have available a few of the also very handsome posters the band had made for their April record release show in NY.

You should know as well that these Obits have made and will have with them, available for sale on these same tour dates a new and really terrific t-shirt. We understand this to be one of the ancillary, though substantial, benefits of attending live music performances: the opportunity to purchase, from the band themselves, unique merchandise that may well be unavailable elsewhere, ever.

MIster Heavenly & Michael Yonkers out August 16th

Tuesday, August 16th is one of those days where we have not one, but two sonically terrific records coming out. First up, we have Mister Heavenly’s Out of Love. This record is from a band comprised of three guys who are also in other notable bands (Man Man, The Unicorns/Islands, and Modest Mouse). This pedigree has come together to produce a truly unique and uniquely amazing record. Secondly, in conjunction with De Stijl Records, we’ve done a very limited, one time repress of Michael Yonkers’ 1968 triumph, Microminiature Love with all proceeds benefiting the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation.

Pre-order Mister Heavenly’s Out of Love right here.

Free, Awesome Blitzen Trapper Key Chain w/ American Goldwing Pre-orders!

Okay, there are a couple key points to note about the pre-order for Blitzen Trapper’s third Sub Pop release.

First, the first 500 people who pre-order the CD or LP from us get a really awesome key chain inspired by the open-roadedness album title (as illustrated in the accompanying photos).

Second, if you’re among the first 300 people who pre-order American Goldwing on vinyl, you’ll get it on very limited edition white vinyl.

And lastly, we’re offering you a what we’re calling a “bundle” (if you will). This works by offering you a new Blitzen Trapper t-shirt + the CD or LP at a lower price than if you’d ordered them separately! Crazy right?!

Also worth noting: as of right now, we don’t even have a t-shirt design, but it’s important to know that we are certain that it’s going to be among the best Blitzen Trapper shirts ever! It’s a bit of a gamble, we admit, but it’s like you’ll end up the victor with a great new shirt and Blitzen Trapper’s best record yet.
