Kinski have been keeping themselves very busy lately, recording songs for other labels. And, the thing is, all of these releases are exceedingly cool-sounding.
From the Kinskis themselves:
1) We are part of a subscription series on Three Lobed that goes on sale Feb. 1. You subscribe to the whole series and get 2 cds at a time. The series includes these artists: Bardo Pond,Hush Arbors, Kinski, Mirror/Dash (Thurston Moore & Kim Gordon), Sun City Girls, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Matt Valentine & Erika Elder, Wooden Wand and the Omen Bones Band. The Kinski track is a 40-minute drone piece and we like it a lot. A limited number of 550 subscription slots are available. You can subscribe or get more information here.
2) We also have a song out entitled “What Statisticians Need to Know” on the UK-based Earworm record label. It’s quite a good comp entitled Where the Sea Meets the Sky with a lot of bands you may not have heard of (although it does feature Fuxa w/ Sonic Boom). Our track is an improvised one similar in style to the stuff on our Don’t Climb on and Take the Holy Water album. You can get it here!
3) We’re also on a compilation entitled Live From The Morning Alternative Vol. 2. It’s a live in-studio version of the song “The Wives of Artie Shaw” from Alpine Static that we did on Seattle’s 107.7 The End radio station at 7 in the &*$#@^ (the immediately preceding is, I believe, comic strip code for “fuckin’”) morning a few months back. It’s limited and cheap ($6.99). If you don’t live in Seattle, the easiest way to get it is to order it here.
And, though Kinski didn’t mention it in their latest transmission, we happen to know that they are also doing a split 12" with Oneida for their (Oneida’s) Brah Records imprint. Not sure when that’ll be available, but we’ll keep an eye out (as should you).
