File under: “News That Isn’t Terribly Surprising to Us At Sub Pop” (that file is HUGE), but new-ish Sub Pop trio, clipping., have been included in Rolling Stone’s March 2014 edition of ”10 Artists You Need To Know”! The magazine says that they sound like “Nimble-tongued, beat-fractured L.A. hip-hop spilled over the abrasive
crunches, squeals, clangs, slurps, and static of experimental musique concrète.” While we disagree with the “slurps” comparison (I think it sounds more like a gallump), the entire flattering-yet-accurate piece can and should be read here.
Also, as it is our business to sell records, this blog post would be woefully incomplete without a heavy-handed sales pitch. So without further adieu, the best way to really get to know clipping. is by pre-ordering their debut, CLPPNG, on CD, DG, or limited, colored-vinyl Loser Edition of the LP. Just saying.
