SUB POP AND DE STIJL: TOGETHER AT LAST! KINDOF!

Sub Pop Records is thrilled to announce a production and distribution relationship with the Minneapolis-based De Stijl label. De Stijl will continue to produce and distribute high-quality vinyl, while Sub Pop will distribute far lesser quality CD versions of select titles.

De Stijl has released many mind-blowing reissues, such as Michael Yonkers Band’s Microminiature Love (later released by Sub Pop on CD), Virgin Insanity’s Illusions of the Maintenance Man (just released on CD by the P-Vine label in Japan), Ed Askew’s Little Eyes, as well as titles by Roots of Madness and Mark Tucker. Current artist output includes the LP of Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice’s XIAO (later released by Troubleman on CD), the Wolf Eyes/Smegma collaboration and LP versions of Samara Lubelski’s latest albums.

Upcoming projects include CD releases by Hototogisu: the collaboration between Matthew Bower of Skullflower and Vibracathedral Orchestra and Marcia Bassett of Double Leopards; Swedish acoustic psych purveyor Jakob Olausson; a reissue of Michael Yonkers’ long lost Grimwood album; and anthologies from Smegma and free jazz outsider Charlie Nothing.

Our first project with De Stijl will be Hototogisu’s new album Chimarendammerung, set for release on September 26th.
