SPRINTS Release Two Explosive New Singles “Rage” and “Beg”

On September 26th, Dublin band SPRINTS will release their sophomore record All That Is Over on Sub Pop for North America and City Slang for the rest of the worldAll That Is Over is a remarkable second effort that pushes the band’s dynamics into richer territory, finding new space and nuance while also going harder than ever.

Following the release of their debut single, “Descartes,“ which Stereogum calls “… a feverish slasher,” comes the release of two new singles, “Rage” and “Beg” SPRINTS frontperson, Karla Chubb, says of both singles:

“Rage”: “I think in the world today, it’s a lot easier to be angry than it is to help facilitate change.  People are fatigued, disillusioned - it’s understandable, but we shouldn’t be pointing the finger at those already marginalised and making them shoulder the blame. The world is full of false prophets and false promises; it’s time we call them out. Don’t let the rage bait fuel the fire and burn us all in the process.

Sonically, I was pretty consumed by Dandy Warhols and Viagra Boys during the writing of this album so I feel like that’s seeped its way into the subconscious of the song. The rumbling, desert, garage influence that almost feels like a tumbleweed of chaos blowing across the track in the guitars.”

“Beg:” “‘Beg’ is a track that represents a lot of the key motifs, themes and topics we explore across the album. Sonically, it’s a sum of all of the parts, new and old, that make up the sound of All That Is Over. Inspired originally by a line in a Vladimir Holan poem, “Beg” is written in part as a joke, a call and response to the question, “Is Karla Jesus?” that was written atop a moodboard when we were brainstorming ideas for a music video.

It’s tongue in cheek, it’s satirical, and it pokes fun at the idea that often it’s those in positions of power that preach their moral codes and judgments, while committing the most heinous crimes themselves. Meanwhile, the communities often under attack are just aiming to exist and to live. It’s an exploration of the self, sexuality, lust, ambition, but also my own shortcomings and the constant battle to be better.”

As previously announced, SPRINTS have shared EU & UK dates in support of their forthcoming All That Is Over this summer and fall, including a standout festival appearance at Glastonbury and opening performances with Bloc Party and Fontaines D.C. Flock of Dimes The Life You Save: Her New Album, Available October 10th, 2025

I did not enter this world afraid
And I refuse to leave it this way.

Flock of Dimes – the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Jenn Wasner – releases her third album, The Life You Save, worldwide on October 10th, 2025, on Sub Pop Records.

Across the last few decades – whether it be as Flock of Dimes, as half of beloved duo Wye Oak, or via one of her many collaborations with Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso, and a sprawling list of other musical juggernauts – Wasner’s extensive catalog displays her gift for balancing authenticity and directness with an unmistakable left-of-center sensibility. Her songwriting has always found her as a keen-eyed observer, a deeply empathetic and thoughtful storyteller with a skill for probing memory, heartbreak, and unhealed trauma, a shroud of syncopation or off-kilter guitar taking a song somewhere quietly prodigious.

Her last solo album, the critically-lauded Head of Roses, took on heartbreak from a dualistic perspective, following a winding thread of intuition into the unknown and into healing. Her new album, The Life You Save, takes that a step further; put simply, it’s the most honest, intimate and personally revealing record of Wasner’s career. As heart-wrenching as they are hopeful, its twelve tracks delve the depths of addiction and codependency, inherited and experienced trauma, and the process of finding peace in the face of others’ suffering. The Life You Save is resonant, unflinchingly exposed – like a missive from the eye of a storm. But while it somehow manages to feel both viscerally raw and vulnerable, above it floats a sense of quiet peace, a sheen of hindsight, or perhaps of acceptance. It is the story of how it feels to be trapped between two worlds—the one you came from, and the one you’ve escaped to; about the belief that somehow, you can take the ones you love with you to this place; about the grief of realizing that the only person you can save is yourself.

The Life You Save was produced by Jenn Wasner and recorded at Betty’s in Chapel Hill, NC, and Montrose Recording in Los Angeles, CA. The Life You Save also features additional production from Nick Sanborn (tracks 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11), is engineered by Adrian Olsen & Alli Rogers, mixed by Adrian Olsen, and mastered by Huntley Miller.

Jenn writes on The Life You Save:
“My previous records, generally, have been a summary of things I had already been through— experiences I had observed and reflected upon, reporting back from some amount of distance. But this record is different. It is an attempt to report from inside of a process that is ongoing and unfinished, from which I will likely never fully emerge as long as I am alive: my struggle within the cycles of addiction and co-dependency.

“I set out trying to make a record about other people.

“Their problems, their struggles, their addictions.

“I struggled for many years to give myself permission to write about this subject–worried that I was telling someone else’s story, a story that was not mine to tell. The work felt hazy and obscured; I was confused, and I struggled. The beauty of songwriting, at its best, is that it puts you in touch with your subconscious–a place where you can only tell the truth. Many of those truths were hard to accept.  Some I don’t, even now, feel fully ready to say. But through this process, I came to understand that I was struggling with this record because I wasn’t being honest with myself. I was so deeply entrenched in the system in which I was raised that I thought I was outside of it, and the ways in which I continued to participate remained invisible to me.

“But slowly, painstakingly, through this work I began to realize—I am not apart from all of this. I have been performing my role from a distance, but I am still engaged, still connected:

“I’m inside it, after all.

“As it turns out, this record is not someone else’s story–it is mine, the story of my life. A life spent believing I had escaped, and that I deserved to feel guilty for doing so. A life in which I believed that the right combination of words, actions, effort, and expense could somehow change others’ behavior. And a life in which blindness to my own patterns caused me to hurt others, and prevented me from finding the true love and acceptance I yearned for.

“The belief that you can rescue others comes from more than one place, internally speaking. The part that is easiest to see and acknowledge is the one that stems from love, good intentions, and a genuine desire to offer care and support. But there’s an uglier side, and that part is harder to look at—the ego, the pridefulness, the belief that you are better, stronger, somehow more deserving than all the rest. That through your attempts to control others’ behavior, you can somehow secure a sense of safety for yourself.

“I know the rules, but I ignore them,
I think I’m good enough to pull this off.

“Or, more simply:

“I think I’m god; I know I’m not.

“For me, that was the puzzle piece that finally made it all make sense. But it was also the piece that was the hardest to hold. It took a long time for me to build up enough love—not for others, but for myself—that acknowledging this truth would not break me. I understand now that I’m not the savior, not the hero, not the chosen one. I’m spinning in my own wheel, a bundle of addictions and adaptations and blind spots, just like everybody else. And there is a beauty to that, along with a kind of freedom.

“In the end, it is my hope that this record exists as a testament to the depth of my love for those I cannot save, and that it might provide some comfort for anyone who is still learning how to love and live for themselves.”

Nation of Language Shares New Single “Under the Water”

Today, Tuesday, July 22nd, Nation of Language is sharing the pulsating and gorgeous track “Under the Water,” a new offering from Dance Called Memory, their forthcoming Sub Pop debut.

Nation of Language’s Ian Devaney offers this on the song, “This was the last one to make the cut before we turned the record in. We’d always had a lot of enthusiasm for the track, but the studio schedule had gotten a bit unwieldy over the holidays and an arbitrary deadline had been set to be done with LP4 prior to leaving for a January tour in Australia supporting IDLES. As such we’d turned in the final album mixes for mastering before getting on the plane and I’d resigned myself to saving ‘Under the Water’ for some subsequent release down the line. But somewhere over the Pacific Ocean while trying to sequence the album clarity set in that despite our love for rigid adherence to the production calendar, we wanted it on there. So before soundchecks on the other side of the planet we hooked up all the synths we’d brought with us in the greenroom, remotely concocting the version you hear now. If it somehow sounds distinctly of the southern hemisphere, now you’ll all know why.”

Nation of Language’s previously announced international headlining tour dates in North America, the EU, and the UK for the fall of 2025 begin on Wednesday, August 20th in Brattleboro, VT at The Stone Church and currently run through Friday, November 28th in Lisbon, PT at LAV. Highlights for this tour include Nation of Language’s three hometown album release shows at the Warsaw in Brooklyn, NY (Sep. 18th-20th), and their largest UK and EU headline appearances to date at The Roundhouse in London (Nov.8th) and Columbiahalle in Berlin (Nov. 21st).

Support for the North American and UK/EU shows will come from Safe Mind (Aug. 21st-23rd), Deathwish Inc.’s Greet Death (Sep. 20th-Oct. 5th), Sub Pop labelmates Deeper (Oct.16th-30th), and Partisan Records act Westerman (Oct. 8th-16th + Nov. 8th-22nd).

Preceding the late summer/fall headline run, Nation of Language will also support Death Cab For Cutie on its Plans: 20th Anniversary Tour in Seattle at the Climate Pledge Arena (Thu. Jul. 31st + Sat. Aug. 2nd) and in Chicago at Chicago Theatre (Tue. Aug. 5th + Wed. Aug. 5th).

Nation of Language previewed the release of Dance Called Memory with current radio single “Inept Apollo” in April by sharing the dioramic official video, also directed by John MacKay. The song recently hit #18 on the Billboard AAA chart (week of July 19th).

Nation of Language’s Dance Called Memory was recorded, produced, and mixed by returning producer and collaborator Nick Millhiser in New York City and was mastered by Heba Kadry in Brooklyn. Dance Called Memory also features the previously mentioned “Inept Apollo” and “Under the Water,” along with highlights “In Your Head,” “Silhouette,” and “I’m Not Ready for the Change.”

Dance Called Memory is available to preorder on CD/LP/all DSPs from Sub Pop. LP purchases from Nation of Language’s Offical Webstoremegamart.subpop.com in North America, MM2 in the UK + EU, your local record store, and directly from the band at their live shows will receive the limited “Loser” Edition on Clear + Black & Blue Hi-Melt (NA), Clear Blue w/ White Hi-Melt (Band Web Exclusive) or Corona Red/White (UK/EU) vinyl. There will also be special color variants available, including Rough Trade (UK) and Urban Outfitters (US) (all vinyl color editions whilst stock lasts!).

What People Are Saying About Nation of Language:
“An instantly appealing synthpop track, melodic and understated. It’s a grower.” [“Inept Apollo”] BROOKLYN VEGAN

“The New York trio capture the tension between the need for creative expression and its futility by offering some romantic, rejuvenating synth pop.” [“Inept Apollo”] “100 Best Songs of 2025 (So Far),” Consequence of Sound

“‘Inept Apollo’ feels like a Gary Numan-meets-Devo-meets-A.G. Cook fever dream. The synths are punchier than ever, the melodies danceable, the vocals mysterious and enticing. The song shapeshifts as it unfolds, becoming its own reflection of the creative process.” “Best New Songs,” PASTE

“There is something instantly transportive about Ian Richard Devaney’s voice, which leaps with an operatic ease, yet maintains a soft-focus diaphanousness as it curls around lyrical transmissions just vague enough to feel applicable to any situation.” [“Inept Apollo”] “Staff Pick,” EXCLAIM!

“It’s a blinky synth track with a rickety drum-machine beat and a whole lot of dreamy effects on the vocals and guitars. I’d say it fills up a room quite pleasantly.” [“I’m Not Ready for the Change”] STEREOGUM

“…shades of my bloody valentine adorn the guitars, while the jagged post-punk aspects are illuminated with Human League style synths.” [“I’m Not Ready for the Change”] CLASH

Sub Pop to Release Six Finger Satellite’s Severe Exposure: Deluxe Edition, an Expanded 30th Anniversary Version of the Landmark Album, Worldwide on September 12th, 2025

On Friday, September 12th, 2025, Sub Pop will release the 30th anniversary edition of Six Finger Satellite’s sophomore effort, Severe Exposure, as an expanded double-LP. In addition to the original recording, Severe Exposure: Deluxe Edition includes a bonus 12” of the 1994 Machine Cuisine EP, and a download of 17 additional songs, including rare singles, compilation tracks, and unreleased material. All the material has been freshly mastered by JJ Golden, and the vinyl is packaged in a lovely slipcase with individual jackets for each LP.

Severe Exposure would go on to become Six Finger Satellite’s best-selling album to date, which the band recorded at their own studio, The Parlour, in Providence, Rhode Island.

Formed in 1990 in Providence, Rhode Island by J. Ryan (singer/keyboards), John MacLean (guitar), Peter Phillips (guitar), Chris Dixon (bass), and Rick Pelletier (drums), Six Finger Satellite quickly signed to Sub Pop for the Weapon EP. Shortly thereafter, they released their landmark 1993 debut, The Pigeon Is the Most Popular Bird, and then, in 1995, Severe Exposure.

Severe Exposure foreshadowed the early ‘00s revival of post-punk and synth-oriented rock by adding synths to the band’s caustic, tense post-punk sound. All Music called the album, “Herky-jerky pandemonium rife with buzzing guitars and spooky, deliberately melodramatic synth and Moog lines, Severe Exposure is filled with tight, paranoid riffs that fulfills the deepest wish of anyone who ever wanted to find out what the unholy progeny of Big Black and Devo would sound like.” Trouser Press wrote that “‘Rabies (Baby’s Got The)’ and ‘Simian Fever’ are animal aggressive and messy, while sharing the synthetic digitone lusts of new wave.” The SF Weekly praised it as “a party record, the kind you slip on at that inevitable point when you want ‘certain people’ to head home.” Chunklet doubles down on the album’s festive vibe: “Severe Exposure is a guaranteed party…”

Severe Exposure: Deluxe Edition is now available to preorder from Sub Pop. LP preorders from megamart.subpop.comMega Mart Europe, and select independent retailers will receive the limited Loser Edition on Coke Bottle Clear & Transparent Orange (the EU edition is limited to 1k copies).

Severe ExposureDeluxe Edition follows the 2023 deluxe reissue of The Pigeon is the Most Popular Bird, also out now on Sub Pop.

What People Are Saying About Clipping’s Dead Channel Sky:
“An epic masterpiece.” ★★★★ ½, DIY

“It’s simply a masterclass in vibrant, unique and breath-stealing hip-hop whose layers of complexity never stand in the way of its fun, vivid storytelling.”
9/10, CLASH

Dead Channel Sky is clipping. at their most techno-shocked, reconnecting with the nexus of hip-hop and sci-fi fused by pioneers…” ★★★★ ALL MUSIC

“On their most immediate and vital album yet, the LA rap trio reimagine a cyberpunk-inspired present and future.” PASTE

“Named after the static-filled sky in William Gibson’s sci-fi novel Neuromancer, the album’s cyberpunk-inspired production - courtesy of Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson - imagines an alternate reality where a fusion of electro, Dutch hardcore, drum ‘n’ bass and industrial noise is the norm, while rapper Daveed Diggs explores abandoned pasts and doomed futures in his signature rapid-fire style.” CRACK

“This music here is less the atmospheric synthesizers of a Vangelis score and more the kind of neural buzz and ecstasy rush of the Crystal Method, the Chemical Brothers and the Prodigy soundtracking films like the mid-’90s inside-the-computer action of Hackers. However block-rockin’ their beats might be, clipping. aren’t excavating the past just for the sake of nostalgia.” 8/10, Exclaim

“The album is shot through with high-concept storytelling and industrial beats infused with glitchy electronic noises. Diggs’ propulsive rapping lends each song urgency, leading to an overall sound that can only be described as post-apocalyptic.” The AV Club

“The whole thing is a total head-trip.” BROOKLYN VEGAN
