New Track from The Helio Sequence

The Helio Sequence are set to release their fifth full-length album entitled Negotiations on September 11th, 2012 right here on Sub Pop Records. The album features 11 tracks and is led by the singles, “October” and “Hall of Mirrors”. You can stream “October” as well as get a free download of the track now from the widget above.

If you act early and pre-order Negotiations from, or buy it from select retailers on CD or LP, while supplies last, your order will come with a quadrophonic companion CD called Aces. The band intended Aces to be played simultaneously with Negotiations on two different stereo systems to create an enhanced spatial experience. Perhaps needless to say, but we like this.

There will be more information on this special pre-order offer in the coming weeks, but for those of you who we had at “quadrophonic companion,” the pre-order is available for purchase now at

The Helio Sequence have scheduled a tour in support of Negotiations which will see the band visiting both sides of the Atlantic this fall. The tour begins September 1st in Seattle, WA at Bumbershoot and currently ends on October 13th in Boise, ID at Neurolux. All current tour dates listed below.

Record Store Day In-Store Performances by Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba, No Age, Male Bonding & Dum Dum Girls

Originally conceived in 2007 as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally, the first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Now celebrated the third Saturday every April, it’s the one day each year that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists and labels to celebrate the art of music. We at Sub Pop Records have put together a whole raft of releases (seven in all!) to help entice people into record stores to enjoy the many pleasures offered there. Each destined for future collector’s item status, the Sub Pop Record Store Day 2010 series of releases is sure to appeal to the minor OCD tendencies of every true music enthusiast. To find a participating store, go here.

Soundgarden “Hunted Down” 7” Reissue (sp12a)

This single is pressed on translucent orange vinyl. The original, now a Soundgarden collector’s item, was pressed on blue vinyl.

The Helio Sequence makes a baby!

Well Brandon did anyway with more than a little help from his wife Pavlina. Here are the stats straight from the horses mouth:

On August 28, 2008 at 1:03 pm Malvina Maria Summers was born- 6lbs 10 oz and 20 inches long.

We’ve been home since the 29th getting used to semi-sleepless nights and just generally being head over heels in love with her!

The Helio Sequence, Fleet Foxes and Arthur & Yu - all on Live at KEXP Vol. 4

One of the ways our friends at KEXP raise money to keep on keepin’ on is through the sale of their series of Live at KEXP compilations. These CDs feature KEXP’s exclusive, live in-studio recordings and recordings from live remote broadcasts across the country. And, Volume 4 is coming out on September 16th! This new installment includes several artists whose recordings are generally available on the Sub Pop label. Specifically, these artists…

The Helio Sequence, who perform the song “Can’t Say No” from their album Keep Your Eyes Ahead
Fleet Foxes with the song “Oliver James” from their self-titled album.

Plus! This volume also includes the song “Lion’s Mouth” from Hardly Artists Arthur & Yu.

Live at KEXP – Volume 4 is evidently available exclusively through Insound and you can (and should) pre-order it now!
