“‘Only in Dreams,’ the second Dum Dum Girls album, seethes with a beautiful, raging confidence, louder and fuller than anything they’ve done before, and better than the onetime peers they’re leaving behind. These lush and reverb-thick songs are ambitious and pointed about subjects that often drag: leaving, wasting away, aching.” – New York Times (Only in Dreams album review, 2011)

Still Corners
Still Corners create music that is dreamy, dark and alluringly eerie. You can listen/download the track “Cuckoo” off the 7" with the same name here and stay tuned for more information on the bands forthcoming Sub Pop debut, Creatures of an Hour out on October 11.

Avi Buffalo
After the release of the band’s critically acclaimed self-titled release, Avi Buffalo is back with a brand spank’n new 7" entitled “How Come.” Insert your email in the widget above to download the a-side off this ripping release. Four Releases, One Day: June 28th

9593

June 28th is a date just filthy with new releases from your good pals over here at Sub Pop Records & Shirts, Inc. Seriously, we’ll be just buried in new tunes that day. Like this… We’ve got the new one from Montreal’s Handsome Furs; Sound Kapital is the duo’s third full-length, and their best yet. Handsome Furs continue to evolve in unpredictable and exciting ways. On this new album they use keyboards and drum machines to forge nine life-affirming anthems taut with muscle and blood. Pre-ordering Sound Kapital will get you a Handsome Furs postcard set for free!

Next up, we’ve got Black Up from Seattle’s enigmatic hip-hop crew, Shabazz Palaces. This debut full-length is the kind of unpredictable genius we like to think you might, possibly, by now, have come to expect from us. We are fairly certain that it is totally not grunge. We are also fairly certain that it is a profoundly amazing record. And, according to much of the early press (and something called “buzz”) that Black Up has received, we are not alone in that. If (let’s go ahead and say when) you pre-order Black Up, you’ll receive a limited edition Shabazz Palaces patch.

Alongside these two full-lengths, we’ve got two new singles coming out that day as well! There’s one from Still Corners, their first release on Sub Pop and a precursor to their full-length debut coming later this year, and our first new music from Avi Buffalo since the band’s April 2010 first and self-titled album.

Please click the respective hyperlinks to engage our self checkout system. Thank you.

STILL CORNERS AND MEMORYHOUSE: TWO EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED NEW BANDS WHO ARE NOW OFFICIALLY SIGNED TO SUB POP!

8742

We at Sub Pop Records are quite pleased with ourselves in announcing that both Still Corners and Memoryhouse have joined our ever-growing family. Both bands will be heading to SXSW this month, after which Still Corners will continue on with new label-mates, Papercuts, on their first-ever US Tour. A complete list of Still Corners and Memoryhouse tour dates is below!

Still Corners
From London, England, Still Corners write songs that are eerie and tremulous, echoing caverns of sound. Comprised of Tessa Murray (vocals), Greg Hughes (guitar and keys), Leon Dufficy (guitar), Luke Jarvis (bass), and Paul Mayhew (drums) the band self-released their debut full-length, Remember Pepper in June of 2008 with the 7" singles, “Endless Summer” and “Don’t Fall in Love” following in 2010. Still Corners are hard at work finishing their Sub Pop debut, which we hope to release in summer 2011. For more information on Still Corners please visit their artist page.

Memoryhouse
Memoryhouse, the duo of Evan Abeele and Denise Nouvion, is from Toronto in Ontario, Canada. Their music blends the contemporary with the forgotten, the traditional and the technological, the visual and the aural, within the sonographic landscape of dream pop. Their discography consists of a digital-only EP entitled The Years and two 7" singles, “Lately (Deuxième)” b/w “Lately (Teengirl Fantasy Natural Mix)” on Inflated Records and the “Caregiver” single on Suicide Squeeze Records. All three were released in 2010. Look for a new Memoryhouse release on Sub Pop before the end of 2011. For more information on Memoryhouse please visit their artist page.
