Some of our bands are very good at keeping their blogs up to date. No Age and Male Bonding both just updated theirs and they’re both well worth checking out. Male Bonding is one of the many bands/humans stranded in the US due to the volcano. Send them some good vibes as they’ve been on tour for 7 weeks and would probably like to head back to the mother ship sooner than later. Male Bonding blog about being stuck in LA, Record Store Day and show off their new stickers. No Age blog about their travels, also about Record Store Day and they meet Fabio (the cardboard version).
Male Bonding has been quite busy lately. After the last show of their first ever major US tour they got stranded in LA because of the volcano. Their time in sunny LA was well spent though! Kevin wrote a nice postcard to the mother ship for Drowned in Sound who also gave Male Bonding’s debut full-length, Nothing Hurts, a glowing 9/10 review this week! John was able to get out of LA before Kevin and Robin so to pass the time they made a video featuring quite a cast of LA scene characters and filmed an interview for Dirty Laundry TV.
Nothing Hurts is in stores on Tuesday, May 11. If you pre-order the album now you’ll get a limited-edition cassette featuring songs from their Daytrotter session.
As if all this wasn’t enough we’ve put up a second MP3 off Nothing Hurts for Franklin. Enjoy
Male Bonding stopped into the Sub Pop International Worldwide Headquarters of America (it’s where we keep our cubicles) and decided to put on a little fashion show featuring a few brand new shirt designs we just received.
Take a closer look.
Grey Oceans is CocoRosie’s fourth album and debut for Sub Pop. It’s a beautiful, enchanting record with incredible arrangements. Try the lead single Lemonade here , and check out The Tripwire’s post here. The CD and LP have different artwork and you can grab them over here. Here are three trailers featuring music from Grey Oceans
Nothing Hurts , the debut album by London’s Male Bonding, is also out today. We fell for their high-energy-hook-laden numbers a little over a year ago and we are so excited to finally be putting their record out. Drowned in Sound gave the record a 9/10 NME an 8/10 and Pitchfork gave a Best New Track nod to Year’s Not Long and did a great little Rising Piece. Try Year’s Not Long here and Franklin here. Also, check out this cool session they did for Radio 1: Year’s Not Long. You can pick up Nothing Hurts here.
To complete the trio, we have the US Itunes release of Foals Total Life Forever. Following on from their 2008 debut Antidotes, Foals have returned with a stunning second record. It’s a real progression from the last one – the tempos are a little slower, often starting sparsely and building to intense crescendos, nowhere more so than on Spanish Sahara. Elsewhere, Two Trees is a subtle delicate track and This Orient and Miami are big pop gems. You can check out 2 tracks on the release page for Total Life Forever here and buy the record on Itunes here. The CD and double LP versions will be available on June 15th. Here are a selection of new Foals videos currently enhancing the internet:
Finally, we have a new 15 track FREE Sampler up on Amazon starting today: Digital Bang. If you are in the US, you can go ahead and grab it here
If you are outside the US, you can listen on the Soundcloud here.

Pissed Jeans in-studio described by music director Brian Turner as “Totally fried sounding, over the top fx throughout, more psych-punk than I remember em being live.”
