Sub Pop Silver Jubilee & The People Who Helped Make It Possible

13539

We are just a few very short days away from the Sub Pop Silver Jubilee, a self-congratulatory 25th Anniversary music festival in which we, Sub Pop Records, showcase of live performances from a dynasty-spanning group of artists either on, or associated with Sub Pop and invite anyone and everyone to attend free of charge. But taking over the entirety of a major metropolitan neighborhood for a full day is exceedingly difficult and costly, and we couldn’t have done it on our own. We enlisted the help of A LOT of friends, to which we are endlessly grateful. We also received crucial support from several businesses who have been great partners and friends throughout the entire process of putting together this festival. We couldn’t have done this without the massive help from the fine people at Nordstrom, Uber, Jones Soda Co., Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, and Red Bull Sound Select. Thank you all from the bottom of our grateful hearts.

A full list of our Silver Jubilee partners as well as a full run-down of events can be found here.

New Sub Pop Merch: A Veritable Bonanza of Purchase Opportunity

13508

Knowing our propensity for forever loudly promoting about ourselves, you are likely all too aware that we’ve temporarily opened a very physical, offline, Sub Pop Mega Mart in Seattle, WA. The purpose of this very tangible, not at all online business arm of the Sub Pop empire is twofold: Fold 1) To sell you the things we sell; Fold 2) To promote the fact that we are celebrating 25 (consecutive!) years of business with a FREE festival we’re calling The Sub Pop Silver Jubilee taking place in Georgetown on July 13th in the very same Seattle neighborhood as the temporary Mega Mart.

We thought it best create an entirely new crop of Sub Pop gear to make available because, how many Loser t-shirts can we ask any one person own (the answer to that seemingly rhetorical question is two: here and here)? We asked our merch department to get to work, and what they came back with was an inspired group of new Sub Pop merchandise ripe and ready for commerce. We now have baseball hat options, Sub Pop 45 adapters, sharp lapel pins, key concierges, Loser sunglasses, button packs, and a dynamic mug duo mug set. It’s all a little overwhelming given that we haven’t expanded our Sub Pop merchandise offerings much in the past decade or so, so please pardon us if we’re overly exuberant about all of this new, and must-have (for us Sub Pop employees, at least) stuff.

In addition to the recently mentioned things we’re now selling online, we have other new offerings that are currently only at the temporary Mega Mart in Georgetown that we are either keeping exclusive there until after the Silver Jubilee on July 13th, or are too cumbersome to ship to you safely if sold online. So, if you’re in Seattle and you want to check out all of these new Sub Pop wares in person, head down to Georgetown and pop in—say hi to Tim, our shopkeep, pick up some relatively rare Sub Pop vinyl, and check out all of the new stuff. We’re open Thursday-Saturday 12-8, and Sunday 12-6.

If you’re not able to visit the Mega Mart in person, take a virtual look at these fine new Sub Pop, uh, things.
