Sub Pop’s finally #1 at something.

2011 has been an amazing year for Seattle’s The Head and the Heart. Since the release of their self-titled debut (which to date has scanned more than 70,000 copies in the US) the band has been touring non-stop, playing shows with Death Cab for Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, Dr. Dog, and The Decemberists. They are currently on their first headlining tour with more than half of the shows SOLD OUT far in advance, including a 2-night stand at New York’s, Bowery Ballroom. The band has also performed to jam-packed crowds at Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party and, most recently, the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

And this week The Head and the Heart’s “Lost in My Mind” is the #1 single in the country at Triple A radio. This comes 24 weeks after entering the chart and makes The Head and the Heart the first artist to reach #1 at the format with a debut single since Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” this past January.
Continuing to tour across the US through October, followed by dates in the UK and Europe in November and Australia at the end of the year, The Head and the Heart will remain incredibly busy for the foreseeable future. On October 28th the band will play on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. And, in addition, the legendary TV music program Austin City Limits has announced that The Head and the Heart will be part of its 37th season on PBS. This season marks the first ACL television season filmed entirely in the show’s new venue ACL Live at The Moody Theater. The performance will air in early 2012.

Niki and the Dove Announce “The Drummer” EP Out Oct 18

10377

Niki and The Dove is a duo from Stockholm, Sweden made up of Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf. Their songs are full of magic and light but with an unsettling darkness hidden beneath the surface. Since getting together in February 2010, Malin and Gustaf have been busy writing together, figuring out just how pop music works and then discovering new ways to break it. The Swedish duo released The Fox EP earlier this year and are now set to release a digital-only EP on Oct 18 entitled The Drummer, which, according to the band and NME, “tells a story about a wrestle at night”.

They explain:
The Drummer tells a story about a wrestle at night, in a no mans land, where everything is uncertain. It’s about the inevitable question of if you’re choosing the right direction in your life or not.”

The band will be heading to the states to open 3 SOLD OUT shows for Peter Bjorn & John in the NYC area with a 14 date UK tour to follow in October. See below for a full list of shows.
