There are a few things that we know about Daris. We know that he came into The Biggest Loser at 346 pounds. We know that he lost 151 pounds while on the ranch and we know that he can run a marathon in 4 hours. We also know that he’s a huge (literally and figuratively) David Cross fan (whose new cd and dvd, Bigger and Blackerer come out on May 25th!). Look, I know that this kid is a cry-baby and that he has completely fucked himself over by regressing with his emotional eating (once he got home from the fat farm/ranch) and all that shit but I think he rules. How can you not love the kid?

Please help us keep Daris in the running to be the next Biggest Loser. Call 1-866-492-6801. Your first 3 votes count!

Grand Archives - Free EP: The Story so Far

As Grand Archives rehearse for their forthcoming summer shows, they’ve also decided to give away a free, 3-song/1-video EP as a download from their website. The tracks here span the band’s catalog—“Southern Glass Home” from their debut, self-released EP, “Miniature Birds” from the first record we at Sub Pop released with them, The Grand Archives, “Dig That Crazy Grave” from their 2009 follow-up, Keep in Mind Frankenstein, PLUS the video for “Oslo Novelist” from that same record! It’s a fantastic overview of the band’s recorded output to date and it’s free.

Vera Fund Drive

Our friends at The Vera Project are heading to the finish line with their Spring Fund Drive. The money that they’re raising supports the access that young people in the Seattle area have to music and art. It also pays to continue teaching its members and volunteers how to book shows, control live sound at venues, manage a stage, work in a recording studio, curate a gallery and so much more. If you’re able, please join us in supporting their efforts. We think they rule! You can do so here.

Thank you!

Male Bonding New MP3 & Nothing Hurts Pre Order!

Male Bonding has been quite busy lately. After the last show of their first ever major US tour they got stranded in LA because of the volcano. Their time in sunny LA was well spent though! Kevin wrote a nice postcard to the mother ship for Drowned in Sound who also gave Male Bonding’s debut full-length, Nothing Hurts, a glowing 9/10 review this week! John was able to get out of LA before Kevin and Robin so to pass the time they made a video featuring quite a cast of LA scene characters and filmed an interview for Dirty Laundry TV.
Nothing Hurts is in stores on Tuesday, May 11. If you pre-order the album now you’ll get a limited-edition cassette featuring songs from their Daytrotter session.

As if all this wasn’t enough we’ve put up a second MP3 off Nothing Hurts for Franklin. Enjoy
