Grammy nominations for No Age and Flight of the Conchords!

5178

Last week, the nominations for the 2009 Grammy Awards were announced and we were pleasantly confused to discover that once again TWO (2) artists recording for the Sub Pop label earned nominations!

We are, of course, talking about No Age and Flight of the Conchords.

In category 80 (aka Best Comedy Album), the self-titled debut long-player by Flight of the Conchords is up against albums by Lewis Black, Kathy Griffin, Harry Shearer, and… George Carlin.

And, in category 88, (the award for Best Recording Package) No Age and art director Brian Roettinger have been nominated for the really very amazing, and yes, also handsomely packaged Nouns album! How crazy and amazing would it be if No Age won a Grammy??? We have all available fingers crossed.

This is becoming almost a regular thing. Last year, you’ll remember/we’ll take this opportunity to remind you, not only were The Shins up for Best Alternative Album (for Wincing the Night Away), but Flight of the Conchords ACTUALLY WON A GRAMMY for their EP The Distant Future. Full details on all that are here

Congratulations to both No Age and Flight of the Conchords—we’re very proud of you guys and regularly attempt to impress people by claiming to know you.

Good luck!
