First off, Jared Hess, esteemed writer/director of mega-hit Napoleon Dynamite and ideamaster/director behind The Postal Service’s newest video for “We Will Become Silhouettes”, is a PIMP. Seriously, man, he’s a visionary, and a total chiller with razor-sharp wit on top of it all. The band couldn’t have been happier to get to work with him; it was like a dream come true.
The video, which was filmed in Van Nuys, California (and also in the middle of the desert about two hours north of L.A.), can be viewed HERE if you haven’t already had the pleasure. In it, Ben plays a karaoke-lovin’ dad, Jenny plays a good-natured mom, and Jimmy is the eldest son who seeks attention from his folks. They’re accompanied by lovely li’l actors playing Jimmy’s younger siblings…and everyone’s got to head to the desert, stat.We thought we’d share some sweet behind-the-scenes photos with you by photographers Seth Smoot and Aaron Ruell (Aaron played Kip in N.Dynamite, fyi!).
By the way, The single for “We Have Become Silhouettes” has the first new TPS song in forevs on it, “Be Still My Heart”…perhaps you’re interested in purchasing it? You are? Well, then, just click HERE.
