La Mano 21 Books / Recidivist- a book of Zak Sally's comics - B-RECIDIVIST

After 12 years of slinging a bass guitar and traveling the globe as a full-time music guy (with Low), Zak Sally released the third and final installment of his comic book series Recidivist on his own publishing imprint, La Mano. Five long years in the making and chock full of what the kids today call “bad vibes,” this 100-page hardcover volume is thick, dense and unsettling (no less an authority than the New York Times called Sally, “…an expert comic artist”). In 6 interlocking stories, people continually lose their keys, go places they should maybe not go, and eat things not necessarily meant for eating.

Is it a book, or a ‘zine? Is it a comic or a “graphic novel”? Who knows? Maybe it’s all of the above or none. In the end, it’s a bunch of black lines on white paper. And, it’s about all the normal stuff – anger, sadness, love, and people whose heads turn into monkeys.

Really, what more could you ask for?
