Following their full-length, debut record, Saturnalia, The Gutter Twins have a new 8-song EP available called Adorata. The EP is available exclusively through the iTunes Music Store here. Adorata features two previously unreleased originals and also contains cover songs by José González, Primal Scream, Scott Walker, Vetiver, and Eleven

We are thrilled to announce that Sub Pop is now the proud owner of Vetiver! In the parlance of our times, we simply issued some commercial paper to raise the requisite capital and now Vetiver is ours. Or, that’s how we “understand” these things to work anyway…
Anyway, because we assume you all to be discerning music fans (attractive ones at that!), we’re sure that you’re already familiar with Vetiver, the ever-evolving musical home-base of singer/songwriter Andy Cabic. We’ve been…

That’s right! We’re offering immediate access to a stream of Vetiver’s 4th long player Tight Knit to folks who pre-order the record right here on subpop.com. You get unfettered access to the sweet sounds of Tight Knit as soon as you order, and then the format of your choice (which is, of course, vinyl right?) when it becomes more widely available.
You not only get to listen to the record early (and with none of that icky bulletin board nerdiness…

Today is/was Groundhog Day and apparently there are six more years of winter or some crap, but that’s not stopping Sub Pop from putting out some quality records this month. February 17th is the release date for Tight Knit (CD/LP), the first ever Vetiver album on Sub Pop, but the fourth one for the band. If you pre-order Tight Knit we’ll throw in the “Hey Baby Doll” / “Miles Apart” 7” which came out on Gnomonsong last year, but act…

While it’s true, you could wait until Tight Knit, the spectacular new album from Vetiver finds its way into your local record or appliance store, you should probably take advantage of the fact that we are giving away a free 7” single with pre-orders of the album through subpop.com. This is a “while supplies last” type deal, meaning that we will give away these singles until they are gone and then that’s it. Do this today, in other words. Vetiver’s…

And without further ado, and practically zero fanfare, here are the (mostly free!) SXSW parties with SUB POP bands! I was thinking about writing the addresses and all that jazz, but I thought that since these were free shows it’d be okay for you to do a small amount of work and figure out the location on your own. Plus, teach a man a fish and all that, you know? Anyway, enough with my constant ramblings…. HERE IS THE INFO…

It’s time again for Record Store Day (April 18), sometimes known as Record Store Day 2: The Reckoning. Last year we gave out free CD samplers of our astoundingly good bands, but this year we are doing something even better—SELLING stuff by our astoundingly good bands, but only in record stores, not even here on subpop.com.
We’re doing four limited-edition 7" singles with unreleased material by Flight of the Conchords (‘Pencils in the Wind’/‘Albi the Racist Dragon’), Obits (‘I Can’t…

Hey, Hey! My coworkers and I are heading to Austin, TX in two short weeks so that we can wine and dine our contacts and show off the talents of our lovable and extremely talented bands. On Thursday March 19th, we’ll be at the Radio Room (508 E. 6th St – formerly Bourbon Rocks, formerly Fat Tuesdays, formerly some place with novelty shots and lots of tits). Most of these bands will be playing additional parties and what-not—we’ll post those…

The Sasquatch! Music Festival is this weekend at the Gorge in eastern Washington and Vetiver, The Fruit Bats, Avi Buffalo, and No Age are playing! A couple years ago one of our publicists streaked the main stage while the Shins were playing, and I’m hoping that the publicity department brings the tradition back this year. Keep a watchful eye on the stage while any of these four bands play and maybe (hopefully!) Kate or Bekah will give you an eyeful….

The new Vetiver album, The Errant Charm, is a superb soundtrack for an afternoon idyll. This album was made for walking. Vetiver bandleader Andy Cabic spent hours wandering the streets around San Francisco’s Richmond District, listening to rough mixes, tinkering with lyrics and arrangements. You can hear his strides in the tempo of “Hard To Break,” which captures the brisk gait one might adopt while passing through a public green space: not hurried, just excited to be heading somewhere.

Do you like summer? What about summer jams? What are your feelings on the unhurried, meandering nature of a coastal highway? If you have a positive emotional response to any of these questions, we at Sub Pop Records have got an album we would like to sell to you! It’s called The Errant Charm, and it comes to us from San Francisco’s Vetiver. Recorded and produced by Thom Monahan and bandleader Andy Cabic, The Errant Charm features some of Vetiver’s…

We at Sub Pop love the bands we work with. This is almost certainly unsurprising. It is perhaps less obvious that sometimes these bands like, love, or maybe just agree to tour with one another. In September of this year Vetiver and the Fruit Bats are declaring to the world (or many parts of North America) what may very well be a profound affection for one another by touring together! Both bands have fantastic new records: Vetiver’s The Errant Charm…
