PANDERING TO THE LOCALS: MAR. '07 L Swain
Thu, March 1, 3:26 PM
March is full of all sorts of things. There’s St. Patricks Day, of course, and the beginning of spring, amongst ‘em. And, after the unusually harsh and seemingly unending winter we weather-pussies here in the Northwest have endured, we’ll seize any opportunity to drink green beer.
Speaking of opportunities to drink anything and everything, for days on end, and to have the same conversation 4,000 times in 4 days…
Sub Pop will be heading to the lovely shire that is Austin, Texas…

Fri, March 2, 6:03 PM
I’ll be in Austin next week representing Sub Pop at SXSW Interactive. If you’re a clever designer, a rubyist or are simply passionate about music (and are planning on actually being at the festival)— let’s talk! Just leave a comment or email me at webmaster.
PS – Anyone know if there is a schedule online iCal or vCal format? I’m not really interested in adding my the events one-by-one. Am I just missing an obvious link somewhere? It wouldn’t be the…
SXSW Interactive: Part 1 Dean H
Sun, March 18, 1:43 AM
I’ve spent several hours sifting through my notes, photos, and pickled memories of this years’ conference, trying to distill them into a few (somewhat) coherent posts and I’m beginning to realize that I’m a bit overwhelmed. For those of us involved in both the music and interactive side of things (which, at this point, should be everyone involved with music, but that’s another rant ) south by southwest is nothing if not really, really long. I arrived in Austin on…

On March 4th we’ll be releasing Saturnalia by The Gutter Twins, aka Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli, as well as Sea Lion by The Ruby Suns, aka a band from New Zealand. Both of these records are worth the price of admission so just step up to the plate and buy them, bub. We’re giving $2 off Sea Lion and Saturnalia through release date along with our patented, highly effective sticker/button combo for each band. Want to know more about…

Red Red Meat: Live! chrisj
Wed, February 25, 6:25 PM
As we really hope you are already aware, we will be re-issuing Red Red Meat’s incredibly great 1995 album Bunny Gets Paid in a fancy, deluxed-up edition on March 24th. The original album has been re-mastered, there’s a 7-song 2nd disc of alternate, demo and single versions of album tracks, plus b-sides, covers and a previously unreleased song from the same era (“St. Anthony’s Jawbone”), all wrapped up in expanded and enhanced album art.
It’s pretty nice (and "available for pre-order…
Sub Pop Showcase at SXSW 2009 L Swain
Wed, March 4, 3:34 PM
Hey, Hey! My coworkers and I are heading to Austin, TX in two short weeks so that we can wine and dine our contacts and show off the talents of our lovable and extremely talented bands. On Thursday March 19th, we’ll be at the Radio Room (508 E. 6th St – formerly Bourbon Rocks, formerly Fat Tuesdays, formerly some place with novelty shots and lots of tits). Most of these bands will be playing additional parties and what-not—we’ll post those…
