February 19th is probably going to be a pretty crappy day weather-wise wherever you happen to be, and unless you’re excessively goth, you’re probably gonna be pretty bummed about it. We here at Sub Pop had the remarkable foresight to bring you a record scientifically-designed and precision-engineered to combat any symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) you might be feeling. Your February 19th is going to be a little brighter with the debut from Grand Archives. Or, you could just…

All of the bands/artists/comedians participating in our various 20th anniversary revelries have agreed to play for free in the hopes of raising a bunch of money to give to a bunch of worthwhile organizations. Basically, we’re pooling the money we make, dividing it amongst everyone playing and each band/artist/comedian picks a recipient.
Herewith the list of organizations to which these folks have elected to donate their share of the proceeds. And, sometimes, where possible, we’ve included a bit of info…

Today in Amarillo, TX Curtis Hall, drummer for Grand Archives, attempted the Free 72 oz Steak Dinner Challenge at The Big Texan Steak Ranch on I-40. Although Curtis made an admirable showing he only managed to put away 50 ounces—yes, THREE POUNDS!—of steak dinner in the alotted hour. Unfortunately for Curtis this means that his Free 72 oz Steak Dinner is really a $72 horrible fucking stomachache. Nice try—you’ll get ’em next time. Grand Archives will be headed up the…

Please help us in welcoming our friend, Mat Brooke, lead singer from Seattle’s own Grand Archives, who has graciously agreed to guest edit our 7th installment of “For the Record”! “For the Record”, as you may recall, is our semi-regular web feature wherein we (or the kind people who we can convince to do so) reflect on a favorite record from the Sub Pop catalog and in turn we then drastically discount said record for the following 48 hours.
_So…
