Flight of the Conchords won a damn Grammy! - chrisj

Somewhat unbelievably, though no less deservedly, Flight of the Conchords won an actual Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album the other night! For a record (The Distant Future) that we, here at Sub Pop, released!

Whoa!

Ever since David Cross’s Shut Up, You Fucking Baby lost to Weird Al’s Poodle Hat album back in ‘04, we kinda figured we’d never win one. But, maybe David just shouldn’t have used the word “Fucking” in the title of his album?

Anyhoo, congratulations on your Grammy Bret and Jemaine! We’re surpassingly proud to bask in your reflected glory.

And, congratulations also to The Shins on their Best Alternative Album Grammy nomination! Though they didn’t win (The White Stripes did), it’s an enormous honor just to be nominated. And their album Wincing the Fucking Night Away is no less amazing for not winning.

Congrats to the guys in the Conchords and Sub Pop as a whole! It’s a damn shame Wincing the Night Away didn’t win it though.. I mean, Icky Thump is a pretty rockin’ disc, but Wincing is just amazing. But anyhow.. who gives a shit about the Grammys these days…

Yeah, grammy’s are bad news. If an indie artist wins one, it’s a sign they’re about to turn to shit (exhibit A, Wilco)

“Wincing the Fucking Night Away” was way too good to ever win a grammy. Must’ve listened to that and “Love and Distance” a thousand times while exhiled in Alaska last summer.

I don't know, man.

I don’t know, man. I don’t judge bands by what they when or whatever award show they’re on. To me, that doesn’t change their music until this change their music. Regardless, I still think they’re hilarious. And Wilco isn’t too that bad, common.
