Free mp3s with vinyl purchase! - chrisj

3097

Here’s the deal:

Starting with our first release in 2007 (the new Shins record) and continuing on until such time as we lose interest or forget, if/when you buy a Sub Pop release in the vinyl format, you will find a coupon enclosed. And on this coupon will be instructions, a url and a unique code for you to download the mp3s for the album you’ve purchased.
Pretty simple.

Please note that these coupons, and their associated access to free mp3s, will not magically (or otherwise) appear in albums released before January of 2007.

There is some more info on all this business here.

This is cool, but...

It would be a lot cooler if I got an email with the URL immediately.

Amen...

to Austin Milbarge’s comment. Still, good on ya’ for using normal MP3’s instead of some crappy DRM-encumbered format.

Yes, exactly…

Well, I do agree with above, and that would make purchasing the LP that much more rewarding, since you’d get the music immediately either way!
But i understand it’s a technological undertaking.

Just received my new Mudhoney album and plopped in the included code for the empythrees! ROCK!!! (LAME encoded no less!).

I thought it was better than sliced bread, then....

While attempting to download my Fleet Foxes .zip file, the file transfer failed at 28%. Since you only get one attempt, so I still do not have a digital copy of the record to listen to on the train.

I’m wearing the vinyl out though, I love that record.
