Top 10 Things I liked About 2009
1. Anything by Iron & Wine.
2. The fact that I learned that Iron & Wine is not, in fact a musical Viking ensemble (the group name threw me…brought visions of shoulder-tossed-dog-destined bones, double-bitted axes, and general Pictishness), but one guy and a sometimes-sister family by the name of Beam.
3. Newton the Border Collie herding my niece into a corner and sitting on her feet.
4. Sweet, delicious summer golf.
5. As #4 above, regarding tennis.
6. My rediscovery of A Night at The Opera.
7. My Wife.
8. Digging a massive (OK, 12′×4′) kidney-shaped flowerbed in my backyard. As a joke, my wife (see #7 above) planted it with nothing but asparagus. My pee smelled funny all summer.
9. Civilization IV.
10. The continued existence of “Inexpensive Banjo” on my X-mas list. One day, I will have a banjo, and it will be a good day.
