MAIL BAG BACK IN ACTION - L Swain

4028

Hey, Folks! So, I used to get all sorts of really awesome, interesting emails to my info@subpop.com email account, but all I seem to get these days in stupid ol’ spam and I’m sick and tired of it.

I am petitioning all of you for GOOD MAIL and I am willing to reward the best mail with some Sub Pop goods. (I was going to give away a red robe worn by Mark Arm but someone threw it away.)

To see the type of mail I’m looking for please check out our old mailbag HERE

Happy Writing!

Too sober right now for anything too interesting

I’ll write something better after I’ve had a few. Saw Mudhoney in Lancaster, PA last weekend. I wish I would have had a chance to talk with them, because I would have asked, “WHY THE HELL ARE YOU ALL THE HELL THE WAY OUT HERE?!” I had to make the trek back to Philly [big town in PA, look it up on a map, bigger then Lancaster even] through dark of night and construction lanes that reminded me of a driver’s ed nightmare. But I did it for Mudhoney. They hold the record for band-that-I’ve-seen-in-the-most-number-of-towns, and it is not because they tour too much. Anyway, Steve Turner was my hero during most of my twenties, and the only interaction I remember having with Sub Pop was when I sent a cassette copy of “Bleach” back for replacement around 1992. When I wrote to inquire about my replacement, someone sent a rather sharp note back saying that Sub Pop wasn’t in the habit of replacing cassettes that had been tossed around the floorboard of someone’s car. I don’t know how that person knew, but I didn’t put it there, it was this undesirable female who ripped out the tape and threw it there in an unprovoked rage. In closing I will also mention our dog named Mudhoney. She is a four-legged dog, but she walks with a gimp. No joke there, just plain fact in mention.

Mudhoney June 10 Cats Cradle

I saw Mudhoney recently! WhooHooooo! It was awesome! I got to talk to Mark for a few, wish it could have been longer, but it was great! He is always so nice to me, on stage he is a different character! And I LOVE that! He’s a wild man on stage. AMAZING! And this is not the first time I have seen them. It’s the 3rd. And I also saw Bloodloss. I got to talk to the bands everytime. I am a lucky person I guess! :) Fortunately I turn up at the right place at the right time occasionally! LOL I have been ordering Sub Pop products for I don’t know how many years. Like for example “Subpop 2000” Numerous Mudhoney, Green River & Nirvana music. All of those bands speak to me. Sub Pop delivers. LOL I don’t have any money but boy I SURE got a great collection! And you know what, I don’t know what I would do without this kind of music. It gets to me like nothing else. It makes me dance, scream, jump up and down, yell, cry, laugh, feel connected to someone somewhere who feels like I do or consider things funny like I do. When I was at the show a few weeks ago I noticed there were a lot of people my age there, but there were a lot of young people having a great time! Mudhoney draws all ages! There’s a lot of crap music out there. As the parent of a musician, and wife, I can say Keep UP the great work. We need you. Mudhoney, you have inspired so many people you just couldn’t even imagine. Happy Anniversary Mudhoney and Sub Pop! I’ve found I’m missing 2 Mudhoney CD’s and some other items I’m going to get. I’ll always be a customer as long as I live I suppose! Been doing it for like 15 years now. Expect me to place an order soon!
