In 1991, the Millionaire wrote The Tiki Wonder Hour, a two-hour cabaret explosion featuring a 14-piece band called the Combustible Edison Heliotropic Oriental Mambo and Foxtrot Orchestra. After two sold-out shows in Providence and one in Boston in the fall of 1991, the core of this musical powerhouse shortened its name and recorded a demo tape, the infamous This Is Combustible Edison. After the demo was featured in CMJ, the band was approached by Sub Pop records, and happiness reigned as the Cocktail Nation stood on the threshhold of a new era. With the release if I, Swinger, CE took the world by storm and brought new generations into the world of the fabulous.
