GRAVE BABIES
Colder than what might be comfortable is one of the warmest places you’ll ever find yourself. There are particular melodies that bite you as they travel through the air and into your ears. Grave Babies hurl such soundwaves towards you like a ton of bricks. Yet even as Grave Babies’ sounds maul you, their songs pull you right in. Their music describes a world of constant turmoil, and how exciting that world can be. With their newest release, Grave Babies expand this world beyond relentless struggle to recognize the inherent balance this constant back-and-forth actually brings.
Across this EP’s five tracks, Grave Babies expand on their raw, exploded sounds they’ve used to communicate the concepts and inspirations occupying the lush-but-seemingly-uninhabited landscape of their art. Gothdammit is an ambitious step forward for the band and plays heavily on the lo-fi post-punk aesthetics they’ve become known for. With Gothdammit, Grave Babies offer disarmingly uplifting anthems and search for a way forward, as opposed to drowning in their usual filth.
